A network switch device includes cooling fans to remove heat generated by its electronic circuitry during operation. Multiple cooling zones are provided in a network switch device to enable reduced cooling fan power consumption. The switch device includes a baffle positioned between a first zone and a second zone and across a circuit board. A first cooling fan provides a first airflow through the first zone and across a first portion of the circuit board positioned within the first zone. A second cooling fan provides a second airflow through a second zone of the housing and across a second portion of the circuit board positioned within the second zone. The baffle directs the first airflow away from the second zone and directs the second airflow away from the first zone. Fan speeds of fans in a cooling zone may be adjusted based on temperature sensors positioned in that zone.

An adjustable spacer is provided. The adjustable spacer includes a first body having a first retention member for securing or retaining the first body to a support member and a second body having a tapered cross-section. The second body is positionable along a surface of the first body to adjust a thickness across a combination of the first body and the second body, and the first body has a second retention member for retaining the second body to the first body.

A housing with improved airflow is provided. The housing includes a cage dimensioned to hold two modules side-by-side in a lower compartment and a further two modules side-by-side in an upper compartment. The cage has a middle compartment between the lower compartment and the upper compartment, with a heatsink in the middle compartment in thermal contact with the two modules when the two modules are in the lower compartment. The middle compartment is ventilated through a first one or more apertures in each of two or more exterior walls of the cage, the middle compartment is further ventilated, when the upper compartment is unoccupied, through a second one or more apertures in an interior wall of the cage separating the middle compartment and the upper compartment, wherein the further two modules when occupying the upper compartment obstruct the second one or more apertures.

A backing plate is provided. The backing plate is configurable to attach with at least one fastener to a heatsink with the heatsink on a first face of a printed circuit board and in thermal contact with a surface of a component mounted to the first face of the printed circuit board and the backing plate on a second, opposed face of the printed circuit board and in thermal contact with the second face of the printed circuit board. The backing plate has a plurality of fins and configurable to act as a further heatsink for the component and remove heat from the component through a solid portion of the printed circuit board.

A busbar and connector assembly is provided. The busbar and connector assembly includes a printed circuit board having an attached connector arranged to couple to a first busbar and a second busbar coupled to the connector. The busbar and connector assembly includes the connector arranged to distribute a first portion of current from the first busbar to the printed circuit board and distribute a second portion of the current from the first busbar to the second busbar.

A protective case for a mobile electronic communication device having a user input interface includes a front cover configured to couple with a rear cover to define a volume for receiving the mobile electronic communication device, the front cover having an aperture aligned with the user input interface when the mobile electronic communication device is received in the volume; a transparent membrane provided between the front cover and the rear cover to be disposed over the user input interface when the mobile electronic communication device is received in the volume; and a compressible member arranged between the front cover and the membrane and separate from the front cover, the transparent membrane configured to provide a seal between the transparent membrane and the front cover when the mobile electronic communication device is received in the volume and the front cover is coupled to the rear cover.

Protective cases for mobile electronic communication devices
