Described is a large volume parenteral (LVP) infusion device system including a cassette and a pump. The system can include means for sensing pressure in a pump having a symmetric or matched, parallel dual chamber pumping mechanism and an attached cassette. The system can include a cassette having dual pumping chambers and a distal fitment, the distal fitment having an outlet port configured for attachment to tubing for infusion administration and being disposed on a distal end of the cassette, the distal fitment further including opposing cutouts. The system can also an air in line sensor, the AIL sensor configured to bracket the distal fitment at the position of the cutout when the cassette is loaded on the pump. The cassette can be mechanically coupled to the pump. The cassette can include a user actionable flow stop. The system can be configured for cassette misload protection.

Infusing pumping system including disposable cassette and pump

Provided is a pumping system that includes a parallel dual chamber pumping mechanism and an attachable disposable cassette. The disposable cassette may include a multi-laminate membrane, which facilitates efficient, accurate and uniform delivery of fluids. The membrane can be held in intimate contact with the pumping fingers of the pumping mechanism by electrostatic or magnetic attraction, thereby allowing the pump to pull a vacuum without the need for a preloaded elastomeric pumping segment.

Pumping system

An evaporative cooling device may be provided. The device may comprise a plurality of rollers, a screen looped around the plurality of rollers, a motor coupled to at least one roller and configured to drive the at least one roller, a basin configured to hold a liquid within an interior of the basin, and wherein at least one roller is at least partially within the interior of the basin. The screen may travel into the basin and capture an amount of the liquid. As the liquid is drawn into an airstream feeding a heat rejection device, the liquid may evaporate, cooling the air. The cooled air may provide a more efficient heat rejection device.

Evaporative cooling device and control system

A syringe plunger driver system capable of capturing syringes of widely varying sizes comprises a pair of asymmetric plunger retainer arms pivotally mounted to a plunger driver. The system includes a low profile driver having a length that exceeds its width so that it may be mounted adjacent control modules and other operational modules. The arms are biased toward each other and one arm is longer than the other with a notch on an inside edge to receive the tip of the shorter arm when capturing small syringe flanges. A rotation knob mounted to the front surface of the low profile driver forces the arms apart when rotated to a first rotation position. A force sensor is mounted in the driver to detect occlusions in the fluid line. A processor monitors the force sensed by the force sensor and provides an alarm if the force exceeds a threshold. The driver includes a force concentrator that defines a pushing surface adapted to press against a plunger flange so that the force applied to the plunger flange is concentrated at a defined location for more accurate measurement.

Syringe plunger driver system

An external adjustable ballast system for keeled sailboats comprising a weight that is designed for low hydrodynamic drag, mounted through a beam to a shaft running down the leading edge of the fin keel. Turning the shaft moves the weight to optimize hull trim, both fore/aft and athwartships, for a particular point of sail. If the weight and beam are shaped as a lifting body and mounted to the shaft such that it pivots as it rotates to optimize angle of attack, the dynamic balancing component can allow for a lighter weight. Ballast weight and beam can be raised or lowered to optimize performance for expected wind conditions. The leading edge of the fin keel is a rotatable non spherical shaft. When rotated, the shaft creates an asymmetric cross section which improves hydrodynamic efficiency of the keel.

Movable ballast in a sailing vessel

A fluid infusion pump includes a platen between an outer door and the pumping mechanism. The platen is located so that as the outer door of the pump is moved to the closed position, it moves the platen to position the fluid flow tube into occlusive contact with the pumping mechanism before the platen engages a flow stop formed integrally with the tube and releases the flow stop to permit fluid flow, thus avoiding a free flow condition. The door also includes a handle having a sear with a hook that engages the flow stop when the door is in the closed position. As the door is opened, the hook moves the flow stop to the occluded position before the platen is moved away from the tube thus preventing a free flow condition. The platen includes a flow stop release portion that is offset from the remainder of the platen that operatively engages a release tab on the flow stop to permit movement of the flow stop to the fluid flow configuration. The platen is mounted to the housing with a floating hinge and datum pins located on the face of the pumping mechanism precisely locate the platen into position with the pumping mechanism and thereby result in precise positioning of the fluid tube.

Medical instrument flow stop interface

A flexible tube occluder has a body portion and a slider portion which act to occlude a tube to prevent unwanted flow of fluid to a patient. The body portion and slider portion are engaged such that slider portion can move relative to body portion. The body portion extends the full range of slider portion's motion and thus the occluder allows for stable occluding and open positions. The slider portion has a slot of varying size which is used to occlude the tube by pressing the tube within the surface of the slot and to allow free flow of fluid through the tube.

Intravenous tube occluder

An engineered pumping segment for facilitating efficient and accurate peristaltic pumping of fluids, providing regulation of fluid flow and providing an effective interface for sensing fluid line pressure in a peristaltic pump system. The engineered pumping segment includes an elastomeric membrane sandwiched between a rigid base and a rigid cover and a slider adapted to slidably mount about the base and cover. The membrane and base define a channel for fluid flow and the membrane, base and cover cooperate to facilitate peristaltic pumping of fluids through the engineered pumping segment and to provide a pressure sensing interface, and in combination with the slider, cooperate to regulate fluid flow.

Engineered pumping segment

An air-in-line sensing apparatus for use with a parenteral fluid administration set to detect the passage of air through a fluid conduit. The apparatus comprises a first housing having a first arcuate section mounting a first transducer adjacent the first arcuate section and a second housing having a second arcuate section mounting a second transducer adjacent the second arcuate section. One housing is independently movable relative to the other housing so that when the movable housing is moved towards the other housing, the first and second arcuate sections capture a length of administration set tubing therebetween providing secure intimate contact therewith. A signal may be generated from one of such transducers, passed through the fluid conduit and received by the other transducer to detect whether the conduit is carrying air.

Air-in-line sensing apparatus

An apparatus for rental of articles such as videocassettes comprises an outer housing, and a storage assembly within the housing having storage locations for storing a plurality of videocassettes. The housing has a front panel including an array of separate display areas each containing pictorial indicia representing a particular videocassette and a predetermined selection code corresponding to that videocassette, a selection device adjacent the array for allowing a user to enter the selection code of a selected videocassette, and a delivery chute for delivering selected videocassettes to users. A transport mechanism is provided for retrieving selected videocassettes from the storage assembly for delivery to users, and for returning videocassettes to the storage assembly. A control device associates each stored videocassette with its storage location and controls the transport mechanism to deliver selected videocassettes to customers.

Apparatus for renting articles

A breakdance doll (10) has a body (11) having a back (12), buttocks (13), and a neck (38) joining a head (40) to the body (11). The back (12) has a laterally extending slot (24) positioned between chest height and the buttocks (13). A rotatable drive wheel (22) extends from the slot (24) and is connected to a motor (26) mounted in the body (11) above the slot (24) by shaft (28). The motor (26) and a battery (36) are positioned to provide a suitable weight distribution for the doll (10), so that the doll (10) will pivot about a point (16) on the back (12) above the slot (24) as the drive wheel (22) rotates.
