A communication interface is provided between a towing vehicle and a trailer, which are connected by a plurality of connectors compliant with standards selected from ISO12098, ISO7638, ISO1185, ISO3731, ISO11446. Digital signals are transmissible between the towing vehicle and the towed vehicle via an ISO11992-3 CAN bus. Pins on the towing vehicles are connected to pins on the towed vehicle by twisted pairs of wires adapted to carry a digital differential signal to provide higher speed data transmission between the vehicles.

Truck trailer interface

A connector in a commercial vehicle electronic braking and communication system for a trailer to connect the system to a prime mover. The connector includes an electronic control module with a first databus connection, which databus, in use, carries braking related data signals and to which a brake pressure control device is attached and a second databus connection, which second databus, in use, carries data relating to non-braking functions.

Trailer power and communication management

A trailer electronic braking system comprising a braking device capable of generating a braking force on a wheel on the trailer. The braking force is applied to the brake cylinders and is controllable by a braking ECU, which braking ECU is connected to a standards compliant communication bus on the trailer. The ECU is adapted to receive data inputs from sensors on the trailer. The system further includes an arrangement to interface to trailer electronics and a communications interface. In use, the arrangement transmits a request to the device for a driver to apply a predetermined condition to the trailer to enable control functions to be actuated from a remote device.

Trailer access point pairing

A trailer electronic braking system comprising a braking device capable of generating a braking force on a wheel on the trailer. The braking force is applied to brake cylinders and is controllable by a braking ECU, which braking ECU is connected to a standards compliant communication bus on the trailer. The ECU is adapted to receive data inputs from sensors, on the trailer. The system further includes an arrangement to interface to trailer electronics and a communications interface having a 802.11 wireless card adapted to transmit an SSID. The braking system is adapted to transmit a trailer identifier comprising the SSID. The trailer identifier can be paired with a further device previously provided with the trailer identifier. The braking system enables the SSID to be changed to a second SSID when a pre-determined condition is met.

A trailer electronic braking system includes a braking device capable of generating a braking force on a wheel on the trailer, a brake force into the brake cylinders being controllable by a braking ECU. The braking ECU is connected to a standards compliant communication bus on said trailer and is adapted to receive data inputs from sensors on the trailer. An interface to trailer electronics and a communications interface are also provided. The brake system is further adapted to transmit a trailer identifier such as an SSID, such that the trailer identifier can be paired with a further device, such as a mobile telephone associated with a tractor driver, the further device having previously been provided with the trailer identifier.

A trailer electronic braking system is provided for a road train having a tractor and a plurality of trailers. The braking system includes a braking ECU on each trailer and a communication interface being provided so that the braking ECU on a first trailer and the braking ECU on a second trailer are able to communicate with one another. In use, the respective braking ECU on the first and second trailer receive an input from a respective sensor on the first and second trailer adapted to detect lateral acceleration and/or wheel speed. In the event that one of the sensors detects lateral acceleration and/or a wheel speed indicative of a loss of stability, the sensor generates a signal for actuating stability control, which signal is passed via the communication interface to the braking ECU on the other trailer, so that the other trailer can actuate stability control.

Trailer electronic braking system

The brakes of the front axle of the trailer of a utility vehicle are impinged upon with a brake pressure by way of a single, common ABS valve. Said ABS valve is electrically actuated by an EBS module associated with the rear wheel brakes depending on a differential slip between the front axle and the rear axle.

Braking system for trailers of utility vehicles

A compressed air operable wheeled trailer braking system includes a braking electronic control unit (ECU) having an electronically operable control valve which derives suitably proportioned load and vehicle speed dependent service brake pressure for brake chambers of the trailer wheeled. The braking ECU has a data memory storing specific braking parameters normally installed therein prior to commissioning the trailer. The trailer has a further diagnostic ECU responsive to vehicle operational sensors, the further ECU also having memory capacity. The specific braking parameters are stored via a communication link consequent upon installation thereof to the braking ECU. Upon recognizing installation of a replacement braking control unit, the parameters from the further ECU are installed in the replacement ECU.
