The present invention describes a novel spring mechanism for a razor. In the razor, the spring member may be disposed in a movable member assembly, portions of which may be used for ejection or pivoting. The spring may be fully encompassed within the assembly and be placed within supporting structures therein. The spring is a loop-shaped element having overlapping end portions with free distal ends. Alternately, the spring member is tear drop shaped loop shape with distal ends that are spaced apart. The spring may be disposed within a first and/or second movable member such as an eject button or a pivot member. A retarding structure on the spring provides a retarding force which is based on the interaction of the retarding structure with a protrusion on an assembly portion to keep the spring orientation intact. The spring is desirably comprised of stainless steel and is a flat wire.

Method of assembling a razor cartridge

A razor handle. The razor handle can have a main body and a pivoting head pivotally coupled with the main body about a first axis of rotation. A severable benefit delivery member can extend from a main body connection on the main body to a pivoting head connection on the pivoting head, the benefit delivery member providing a first biasing torque on the pivoting head to affect an angular deflection about the first axis of rotation of the pivoting head relative to the main body. A spring member can extend from a spring-main-body connection on the main body to a spring-pivoting-head connection on the pivoting head, the spring member applying a second biasing torque to affect an angular deflection about the first axis of rotation of the pivoting head relative to the main body. A ratio of the sum of the first and second pivoting torques divided by the angular deflection in radians to the second pivoting torque divided by the angular deflection in radians of the pivoting head with the pivot benefit delivery connection severed can be greater than 2:1.

Also provided is a shaving razor handle with these features and a forward assembly coupled to the body, in which at least a portion of the forward assembly rotates relative to the body. Further provided is a shaving razor handle with these features, in which an inner edge of the one of the top shell or the bottom shell comprises a substantially linear portion extending substantially parallel to a longitudinal axis of the body and a curved portion extending between the substantially linear portion and the substantially continuous band of material.

A shaving razor handle comprising a body defined by a top shell joined to a bottom shell and a forward assembly coupled to the body and comprising a shaft received in an open end of the body. An inner surface of the top or bottom shell comprises an extension that engages an aperture formed in an outer surface of the shaft. Also provided is a shaving razor handle with these features, in which the top or bottom shell comprises a substantially continuous band of material forming an open end of the body and in which the shaft and/or body comprises one or more structures to retain the shaft within the body and to allow limited rotation of at least a portion of the forward assembly relative to the body.

A razor includes a cartridge having a blade, the cartridge configured to rotate about a first axis, and a handle coupled to the cartridge. The handle includes a first end, a second end opposite the first end, and a rotatable portion coupled to the second end such that the rotatable portion is configured to rotate relative to the first end and about a second axis. The rotatable portion includes a base and a retention system. The retention system is configured to apply a resistance torque upon the rotatable portion when the rotatable portion is rotated from an at rest position.

A handle for a shaving razor, the handle has a frame and a flexible pod coupled to the frame. The flexible pod has a base with a first mounting member. The first mounting member corresponds in shape and mates with a second mounting member of the frame. The flexible pod is compressible and uncompressible to engage the first mounting member of the flexible pod with the second mounting member of the frame.

A handle for a shaving razor in which the handle has a frame and a pod operably coupled to the frame such that the pod is configured to rotate about an axis substantially perpendicular to the frame. The pod has a base and a cantilever tail extending from the base. A distal end of the cantilever tail is loosely retained by the frame. The cantilever tail generates a return torque upon rotation of the pod about the axis.

A shaving system with a handle having an enlarged proximal end portion and a housing spaced apart from the enlarged proximal end portion of the handle. The housing has a front face, at least one blade and a cap behind the at least one blade. An elastomeric member is molded to the housing and the handle interconnecting the housing and the handle to form an integral unit. A molding process for forming a wet shaving razor including the step of placing one or more of the blades into a first mold cavity. A first generally rigid polymer is injected into the first mold cavity to form a housing and to secure the blades. A second generally rigid polymer is injected into a second mold cavity to form a handle that is adjacent to and spaced apart from the housing of the first mold cavity. A generally flexible polymer is injected into a third mold cavity to interconnect the housing and the handle, wherein the generally flexible polymer forms a gripping portion on the handle and a resilient skin contacting element between the housing and the handle.
