A method of manufacturing a concrete product includes providing a metal-based cementing agent including at least one of FeOand FeO, an aqueous phosphoric acid cement reacting agent, an aggregate having at least one metallic oxide, a setting agent including at least one of Feand Mn, and an acid scavenging agent including at least one of K-feldspar and magnesium silicate. The method includes mixing the metal-based cementing agent, the cement reacting agent, the aggregate, the setting agent and the acid scavenging agent together to form a liquid concrete mixture, and placing the liquid concrete mixture in a form and allowing the liquid concrete mixture to set up and cure into the concrete product. The method can optionally include the additional step of placing the concrete product into an oven at a temperature of between 170° C. and 190° C.

Metal-cement based concretes and methods for making same

A method of manufacturing a catalytic sieve includes providing starting materials of an aggregate, a cementing agent, a sublimation agent and water. The sublimation agent (between 25% and 50% by weight of the cementing agent) is selected from molybdenum disulfide, tungsten disulfide, vanadium disulfide, copper sulfate, and combinations thereof. The aggregate contains at least 2% by weight of at least one transition metal. The method includes mixing the starting materials to achieve a mixture, placing the mixture into a form, and curing the mixture in the form to allow the mixture to become a solidified unit defined by a minimum dimension of thickness, length, width or diameter. The method further includes placing the solidified unit into a kiln, heating the kiln to 1115°-1350° C., maintaining the kiln at the temperature for between 10-60 minutes per centimeter of the minimum dimension, and removing the solidified unit from the kiln.

A distributed utility system includes water source supply lines capable of being placed in fluid communication with a separate water source, water discharge lines capable of being placed in fluid communication with a separate water discharge destination, a water source and destination control manifold to allow selected water source supply lines to be placed in fluid communication with selected water discharge lines, and a storm water collection and distribution system. The storm water system includes a storm water collection conduit and a collected storm water discharge line in fluid communication with the storm water collection conduit, and the storm water discharge line can be placed in fluid communication with the plurality of water discharge lines via the control manifold.

A method for manufacturing a concrete product includes providing a metal-based cementing agent, and an acid-based cement reacting agent of the form HXO, where 'X' is an element selected from group consisting of phosphorous, carbon, sulfur and boron, “n” and “m” are selected so that the cement reacting agent is an acid, and “X” will bond with the metal-based cementing agent to form a metal cement. The method further includes providing an aggregate defined by an exposed surface area having metallic aggregate linking elements thereon which can chemically bond with “X” in the presence of the acid-based cement reacting agent, and providing a hydroxide-supplying additive. The method includes combining together the metal-based cementing agent, the acid-based cement reacting agent, the aggregate and the hydroxide-supplying additive, and allowing the metal-based cementing agent and the acid-based cement reacting agent to react and bond with the aggregate to form the concrete product.

A method for manufacturing unitized formed mineral-based construction materials includes providing starting materials of an aggregate, a cementing agent, a sublimation agent and water. A distributed integrated water management system includes water source supply lines capable of being placed in fluid communication with a separate water source, water discharge lines capable of being placed in fluid communication with a separate water discharge destination, a water source and destination control manifold to allow selected water source supply lines to be placed in fluid communication with selected water discharge lines, and a storm water collection and distribution system which includes a storm water collection conduit to collect storm water runoff, and a plurality of sumps to receive storm water runoff from the storm water collection conduit. The storm water collection and distribution system further includes a collected storm water discharge line in fluid communication with the sumps, and the collected storm water discharge line can be placed in fluid communication with the plurality of water discharge lines via the water source and destination control manifold.

Distributed integrated water management system

A road surface covering system includes a road surface covering of concrete or asphalt, water permeable tiles disposed adjacent to an outer edge of the road surface covering and having a water conductivity of at least 7 inches of water per hour, and a subgrade bed of fill material including a porous sand. The porous sand includes at least 70% of a naturally occurring micaceous arkose rock material having at least 30 wt % of mica, and at least 50 vol % of the micaceous arkose rock material having a mean diameter of between 0.060 mm and 0.65 mm. The micaceous arkose rock material being previously kilned at a temperature of between 1100&#xb0; C. and 1300&#xb0; C.

Road surface covering system

A method for manufacturing a mineral-based porous granular material includes providing a starting material of at least 70 weigh % of an micaceous arkose rock material. The starting material is in a granular form having at least 50 volume % with a mean diameter of between about 0.060 mm and about 0.65 mm. The method includes placing the starting material into a bed on a support surface, placing the support surface containing the bed of the starting material into a kiln, and subjecting the bed of starting material within the kiln to a basic processing temperature of between about 1100&#xb0; C. and about 1300&#xb0; C. for a basic processing temperature processing time selected to transform at least 40 volume % of micaceous components in the micaceous arkose material into feldspar, and to evolve at least 30 volume % of metal sulfides within the feldspar from the feldspar as metallic oxides.

Mineral-based porous sand and methods for making mineral-based porous sand

A method of manufacturing unitized formed mineral-based construction materials includes providing starting materials that include an aggregate, a cementing agent and water. The starting materials are mixed to achieve a mixture of the starting materials which is then placed into a form and cured to allow the mixture of starting materials to become a solidified unit. The solidified unit of the mixture of starting materials is defined by a minimum dimension of thickness, length, and/or diameter. The solidified unit of the mixture of starting materials is placed into a kiln which is then heated to a processing temperature of between about 1000&#xb0; C. and about 1350&#xb0; C. and maintained for a period of time of between about 10 minutes and about 60 minutes per centimeter of the minimum dimension of the solidified unit of the mixture of starting materials.

One embodiment of the present invention provides for a method of placing a concrete structure in a generally horizontal position. The method includes building the concrete structure in an essentially vertical position, the concrete structure being defined by a first end. The concrete structure is pivotably supported at a support location proximate the first end while the concrete structure is in the essentially vertical position. The concrete structure is then pivoted about the support location to move the concrete structure from the essentially vertical position to the generally horizontal position.

Methods and apparatus for forming and placing generally horizontal structures

One embodiment provides for a liquids/solids reaction vessel configured to contain a mixture of at least one liquid and at least one solid. The vessel includes a closed perimeter wall defined by an effective height, and a bottom connected to the closed perimeter wall to thereby define a vessel volume configured to contain the mixture. The reaction vessel further includes a solids extraction system located in at least one of the bottom or in the perimeter wall proximate the bottom. The effective height is selected to produce a pressure proximate the bottom of the reaction vessel selected to eject the at least one solid through the solids extraction system under the influence of gravity alone. The effective height can be further selected to cause an increase in a reaction rate between the at least one liquid and the at least one solid.
