An installer application implemented in a computational device receives a command to install a test application in the computational device. The installer application determines whether a selected port of a plurality of ports of the computational device is to be blocked prior to installing the test application in the computational device. In response to determining that the selected port is to be blocked prior to installing the test application in the computational device, the installer application blocks the selected port, installs the test application by binding a socket to the selected port of the plurality of ports, and tests functions of the test application by executing one or more code paths of the test application, in response to installing the test application.

Blocking a selected port prior to installation of an application

A processor determines a predicted quantity of updates to be made to a set of data using a history of updates. The set of data is associated with a category of replication that indicates a first frequency of data replication to be applied to the set of data. The processor determines whether the first predicted quantity of updates meets a first threshold for a frequency of replication of the set of data. The first threshold indicates an allowed number of updates and meeting the first threshold indicates that an adjustment to the frequency of replication of the set of data is to be initiated. The processor responds to a determination that the first threshold has been met by associating the set of data with a category of replication that has a second frequency of data replication to be applied to the set of data.

Automatic adjustment of data replication based on data access

An apparatus for routing data and power cables under raised floors and through other structures is disclosed herein. In one embodiment, such an apparatus includes an illuminated attachment comprising a connection mechanism to removably connect the illuminated attachment to an end of a cable. The illuminated attachment adds weight to the end of the cable to aid in tossing the end from one location to another. A corresponding method is also disclosed herein.
