Described herein are technologies for application authentication and/or data encryption without stored pre-shared keys. In one resource controller, a processing device receives an application identifier (ID) from the application. The processing device provides a current nonce responsive to the application ID and provides the application access to the system resource responsive to determining that a hash of a current key received from the application equals a current tag. The current key is generated by the application based on code of the application and the current nonce. The current tag was previously provided from the application to the resource controller. The current tag can also be hashed by the application using the current key.

Application authentication and data encryption without stored pre-shared keys

A first device transmits a first message to a second device as part of a challenge-response protocol in order to authenticate the second device. A power limited power supply coupled to the second device limits power consumption by the second device during the second device's challenge-response protocol calculations. The first device measures a response time of the second device during the challenge-response protocol. The authentication of the second device is based on the response time of the second device while it has limited power consumption.

Authentication timers

Pairing data associated with a second device may be received at a first device. The pairing data may be received from a server. A first authentication proof may be generated based on the pairing data received from the server. A second authentication proof may be received from the second device. Furthermore, an authentication status of the second device may be updated based on a comparison of the first authentication proof that is based on the pairing data received from the server and the second authentication proof that is received from the second device.

Authentication of a device

A system receives a first request for data associated with a data stream received over a first network from a remote source and then determines when the requested data will be available based on analyzing the data stream. The system communicates a second request for the requested data over a second network to the remote source when the requested data will not be available from the data stream within a threshold time and receives the requested data from the remote source over at least one from the list including the first network and the second network.

Data retrieval in a two-way network

The invention provides a method and system for creating an innovative file system that separates its directory presentation from its data store. The method and system include processing, division, distribution, managing, synchronizing, and reassembling of file system objects that does not delay the presentation of the content to the user, but also uses a reduced amount of storage space. The invention includes the ability to manage and control the integrity of the files distributed across the network, and the ability to serve and reconstruct files in real time using a Virtual File Control System.
