Methods for machine velocity change gear selection and shift execution are disclosed. A current velocity and a maximum velocity change for a work machine from the current velocity may be determined. The maximum velocity change may be based on a maximum amount of energy expended to change the velocity of the work machine without exceeding an operational limit of a work machine component. A selected machine velocity change target gear may be a highest one of the available gears that will not cause a difference between the current velocity and an end of shift velocity of the work machine that is greater than the maximum velocity change so that the maximum amount of energy will not be exceeded. Factors affecting the maximum velocity change may include the grade, the mass of the work machine, and a transmission oil temperature.

Method of optimized gear selection on high speed directional shifts

A braking system for a machine includes a first valve assembly having a first electronically actuated proportional valve, and a second valve assembly having a second electronically actuated proportional valve. The braking system includes a first pressure sensor and a second pressure sensor disposed downstream of the first and second valve assemblies, respectively. The first and second pressure sensors are configured to determine a first pressure and a second pressure of a braking fluid from the first and second valve assembly. The braking system also includes a controller configured to receive a signal indicative of the first pressure and the second pressure of the braking fluid and compare the first pressure and the second pressure. The controller is configured to selectively actuate at least one of the first electronically actuated proportional valve and the second electronically actuated proportional valve to substantially equalize the first pressure and the second pressure.

Braking system and method for machine

A method for controlling the power of an engine is provided. The method includes determining a baseline fuel amount, determining an engine cooling fan operating condition based on an engine operating parameter, determining an engine cooling fan command based on the engine cooling fan operating condition, determining an engine cooling fan power level based on the engine speed and the engine cooling fan command, determining an additional fuel amount based on the engine cooling fan power level, adding the additional fuel amount to the baseline fuel amount to create a compensated fuel amount, and providing the compensated fuel amount to the engine. An engine system, including an engine controller coupled to an engine, a fuel system and a hydraulic pump, is also provided. The engine controller includes a processor adapted to perform a set of instructions that controls the power of the engine.

Engine compensation for fan power

A drivetrain system for a mobile machine is disclosed. The drivetrain system may have an engine, a generator driven by the engine to generate electric power, and a traction motor driven by the electric power from the generator. The drivetrain system may also have a controller in communication with the engine, the generator, and the traction motor. The controller may be configured to determine a change in loading on the traction motor, and determine a change in fueling of the engine that will be required to accommodate the change in loading on the traction motor. The controller may also be configured to selectively rate-limit the change in fueling, and implement the rate-limited change in fueling prior to transmission of the change in loading on the traction motor to the engine.
