Systems and methods for supporting a high thermal gradient between a qubit plane and a control system for the qubit plane are described. A system includes a qubit plane associated with a first rigid circuit portion of a superconducting rigid-flex circuit and a control system associated with a second rigid circuit portion of the superconducting rigid-flex circuit. The superconducting rigid-flex circuit includes a flexible circuit portion for interconnecting the first rigid circuit portion with the second rigid circuit portion. The system further includes a first cooling system operable to maintain an operating temperature for the qubit plane and the first rigid circuit portion of the superconducting rigid-flex circuit at or below 100 milli-kelvin. The system further includes a second cooling system operable to maintain an operating temperature for the control system and the second rigid circuit portion of the superconducting rigid-flex circuit at or below 10 kelvin.

Photon generating substrates for light-directed oligonucleotide synthesis are disclosed. Light is generated within a solid-state stack that supports growing oligonucleotides. The light may be generated by microLEDs, a pass-through liquid crystal panel, or an LCoS system. Light passes through a transmissive layer on which growing oligonucleotides are attached. Patterning of the light is controlled by selective activation of the microLEDs or by selective control of the transparency of a liquid crystal layer. Photolabile blocking groups are selectively removed by exposure to patterned light emitted from the photon generating substrate.

High temperature superconductor (HTS)-based interconnect systems comprising a cable including HTS-based interconnects are described. Each of the HTS-based interconnects includes a first portion extending from a first end towards an intermediate portion and a second portion extending from the intermediate portion to a second end. Each of the HTS-based interconnects includes a substrate layer formed in the first portion, in the intermediate portion, and in the second portion, a high temperature superconductor layer formed in at least a sub-portion of the first portion, in the intermediate portion, and in the second portion, and a metallic layer formed in the first portion and in at least a sub-portion of the intermediate portion. The HTS-based interconnect system includes a thermal load management system configured to maintain the intermediate portion of each of the HTS-based interconnects at a predetermined temperature in a range between a temperature of 60 kelvin and 92 kelvin.

High temperature superconductor-based interconnect systems with a lowered thermal load for interconnecting cryogenic electronics with non-cryogenic electronics

Systems with indium application to heat transfer surfaces and related methods are described. A system includes a chassis, arranged inside a housing, having at least one slot for receiving a blade. The blade, arranged in a slot of the chassis, includes a first circuit board having a plurality of components mounted on a substrate. The blade further includes a first heat spreader comprising a metal. The first heat spreader including metal is arranged to transfer heat from the first circuit board to a cooling system via a first interface between a first surface of the first heat spreader and a second surface of the chassis, and where indium is permanently bonded to either the first surface of the first heat spreader, or the second surface of the chassis, or both the first surface of the first heat spreader and the second surface of the chassis.

Systems and method are disclosed for measuring small angular deflections of a target using weak value amplification. A system includes a beam source, a beam splitter, a target reflecting surface, a photodetector, and a processor. The beam source generates an input beam that is split into first and second beams by the beam splitter. The first and second beams are propagated to the target reflecting surface, at least partially superimposed at the target reflecting surface, and incident to the target reflecting surface normal to the target reflecting surface. The first beam is reflected an additional even number of times during propagation to the photodetector. The second beam is reflected an additional odd number of times during propagation to the photodetector. The first and second beams interfere at the photodetector so as to produce interference patterns. The interference patterns are interpreted to measure angular deflections of the target reflecting surface.
