The present invention is related to a compact, portable, user-friendly sleep disorder diagnosis and screening device. The present invention is further related to a single-ended respiratory inductance plethysmography belt used to monitor certain parameters of a subject's respiration while at the same time serving to position and mechanically stabilize a compact data acquisition system about a subject's thorax or abdomen. In one application of the present invention to screen for sleep disorders, the single-ended respiratory inductance plethysmography belt is worn by the subject and a compact data acquisition unit is attached to the belt to which appropriate additional sensors and components such as a pulse oximeter and a nasal cannula are connected. Data is then collected using the belt, compact data acquisition unit, and sensors and is used to determine whether the subject has, or is at risk of having, a sleep disorder.

Device for sleep diagnosis

The present invention is directed to systems, devices and methods for stimulating perceived motion, and more particularly to stimulating perceived motion in three axes. The invention is further directed to stimulating such perceived motion when accompanied by visual stimuli. The invention is further directed to utilizing as few as two distinct pairs of electrodes to administer electrical stimulation to generate the perceived motion. The invention is further directed to systems, devices and methods to minimize side effects while utilizing electrical currents create the perceived motion.

Galvanic vestibular stimulation (GVS) systems, devices and methods

The present invention pertains to a system, method, and device for treating sleep disorders. The present invention is particularly useful in the delivery of carbon dioxide (CO2) to a subject and in the treatment of sleep apnea. Furthermore, integration of components with various sensors and apparatuses associated therewith and attached thereto preferably complete a rebreathing circuit in the present invention. In various embodiments of the present invention where the above components are integrated as a rebreathing circuit, a subject is both the source and recipient of a controlled concentration of carbon dioxide. In such embodiments, treatment of sleep disorders becomes much more efficient and effective.

The present invention is related to a connector for a lead wire for a electrode. The present invention is further related to the use of a connection element to provide mechanical and electrical connections with a physiological electrode. The present invention is further related to the use of a helical connection element to provide mechanical and electrical connections with the node of a physiological electrode. In various embodiments, the invention comprises an expander that can stretch the connection element so that it may fit over the head of a male connector of an electrode and release to secure the connection element around the neck of the male connector of the electrode. When secured to the electrode, the connection element preferably makes contact with the electrode at multiple points in order to increase electrical connectivity with the electrode and decrease mechanical force in a single direction on the electrode.

The present invention is related to a flexible circuit connector as well as a system using the connector. The present invention further includes an electrical case comprising part of the flexible circuit connection system. Various embodiments of each the flexible circuit connector, flexible circuit system and electrical packaging integrated with the flexible circuit system of the present invention are possible. The flexible circuit connector of the present invention takes advantage of the stiffness of the flexible circuit to bias the circuit against leads in the connector. The flexible circuit connector can also be designed to provide for polarization (or only one means) to connect to the connector. In particular embodiments the connector can be designed into a circuit board, an electrical case or housing or into other types of connectors. The flexible circuit itself can be designed to allow for varying stiffness across the width of the flexible circuit to allow for numerous improvements including better contacts, greater fatigue resistance and improved user characteristics.
