A protective garment system includes a garment base and at least one protective element that is removably engageable with the garment base. In some configurations, a first protective element comprises a plurality of attachment or anchor features that interact with the garment base or another portion of the system to partially or fully engage the first protective element in a removable manner with the garment base. In addition or in the alternative, the protective garment can include a second protective element that is removably engageable with the garment base separately from the first protective element. The protective elements can be a knee cap and a knee pad.

An auxiliary strap assembly provides a simple, adjustable strap device for mounting objects to an underlying load bearing platform. In some implementations, the strap assembly includes an elongate anchor body that provides support to the object(s) being secured and/or to the underlying load bearing platform. The strap assembly can be adapted for connection to ladder webbing, such as Pouch Attachment Ladder System (PALS) or HEXGRID&#xae; mounting system.

Auxiliary strap assembly

An illumination system can include a flashlight removable from a headlamp docking base with a C-shaped bracket. The flashlight can have a bifurcated body defined by a shaft and a bar each attached to a lateral side of a head and spaced apart from one another to define a slot. The shaft can define a battery housing. A first light source on a front side of the head and a second light source on the bar may each be on a front face of the flashlight. The flashlight may be selectively secured among different structures by selectively performing actions including at least: mounting the flashlight to the base by inserting the shaft of the flashlight into the C-shaped bracket of the base; and mounting the flashlight to a substrate by sliding the slot of the flashlight over an edge of the substrate.
