The invention provides an apparatus for polymer chromatography, comprising at least one column that comprises a first stationary phase comprising one of the following: A) a material comprising at least one non-carbon atom, excluding glass or a metal, selected from molybdenum sulfide MoS2, tungsten sulfide WS2, silicon carbide SiC, boron nitride BN, or combinations thereof, or B) glass, or a metal, or combinations thereof, and a material comprising at least one non-carbon atom selected from molybdenum sulfide MoS2, tungsten sulfide WS2, silicon carbide SiC, boron nitride BN, or combinations thereof. The invention also provides a method for polymer chromatography, comprising introducing a solution, comprising a polymer, into a liquid flowing through a first stationary phase, and wherein the first stationary phase comprises one of foregoing materials (A) or (B).

The present disclosure provides methods of using a nonionic surfactant for enhanced oil recovery, where the nonionic surfactant is prepared with a double metal cyanide catalyst. The present disclosure also provides for an emulsion that includes carbon dioxide, a diluent and the nonionic surfactant.

Chromatography of polyolefin polymers

A method to enhance solubility of an active compound comprises combining an active compound, having an aqueous solubility that is less than or equal to about 10 mg/mL, and an amount of methoxypolyethylene glycol that is sufficient to increase the aqueous solubility of the active compound. Enhancement of aqueous solubility for this combination may be significantly greater than that of an active compound in combination with an equivalent amount of polyethylene glycol. Particularly enhanced solubility is shown where a small amount of water is also included. The invention may be used in a wide variety of applications, such as for pharmaceutical, agricultural, antimicrobial, and personal care products.

Method to enhance aqueous solubility of poorly soluble actives

A method and apparatus for chromatography of a polyolefin polymer by flowing a solution of the polyolefin polymer through liquid flowing through a graphitic carbon liquid chromatography stationary phase. The method can be used to determine the monomer to comonomer ratio of a polyolefin copolymer such as a copolymer of ethylene and 1-octene or a copolymer of propylene and ethylene.

A method for multi-dimensional chromatography of a polyolefin polymer, comprising introducing a solution of the polyolefin polymer into a liquid flowing through a first liquid chromatography stationary phase or a field flow fractionation device and subsequently flowing the solution through a second liquid chromatography stationary phase, the second liquid chromatography stationary phase comprising graphitic carbon, the polyolefin polymer emerging from the liquid chromatography stationary phase with a retention factor greater than zero.
