A shipboard platform is provided for azimuth and elevation pivoting of a targeting payload. The platform is coupled to a ship and includes a pedestal, an azimuth drive trunnion, a yoke having first and second struts, an elevation drive trunnion and an elevation support trunnion. The pedestal is disposed on the ship. The azimuth drive trunnion is disposed in the pedestal. The yoke is rotatably disposed on the azimuth drive trunnion. The elevation drive and support trunnions are rotatably disposed in their respective first and second struts. The payload is mountable to the elevation drive and support trunnions. Further, a gimbal trunnion is provided for pivoting a payload along an axis. The trunnion includes an annular shaft, an interface mounting plate, an annular rotor, an annular stator, and inner and outer annular housings. The shaft turns the payload along the axis. The interface mounting plate is axially disposed between the payload and the shaft. The annular rotor extends radially outward from the shaft for turning the mounting plate. The annular stator extends radially outward from the rotor to laterally constrain the rotor. The inner and outer annular housings extending radially outward from the stator for encasing the axially tandem bearings.

Shipboard gimbal trunnion

An adapter for a belt fed firearm. The adapter includes a plate, a cutout in the plate that allows ammunition to pass through the plate, a plurality of recesses for receiving a plurality of guide lips fixed to the firearm, and a plurality of bosses for receiving a plurality of latches fixed to a feed chute.

Feed chute adapter

An apparatus for discharging a weapon includes a combination trigger that includes both a manual trigger and a remote trigger. The weapon may be discharged using either the manual trigger or remote trigger. The apparatus may also include a remote and/or manual safety to prevent the weapon from being discharged.

Trigger arrangement for manual and remote firing

A trunnion clutch system is provided for angularly positioning a payload. The system includes a trunnion and a clutch. The trunnion has an annular trunnion housing, a trunnion shaft that engages the payload, and an electromagnetic motor that turns the trunnion housing. The clutch has an annular clutch housing, a jack shaft, a coil of copper winding rings, a plurality of helical springs, an annular armature, and an annular platform. The clutch housing contains a channel. The jack shaft is disposed in the clutch housing and engages the trunnion. The coil of copper winding rings is disposed within the channel. The helical springs are disposed within an angularly distributed plurality of pockets within the clutch housing. The annular armature is disposed to be separate from the coil by a gap via the springs. The annular platform has an abrasive liner disposed adjacent the armature. Energizing the coil pulls the armature away from the liner, thereby disengaging the trunnion.

Clutch for gimbal system

A stow pin is provided for locking and releasing a turret on a baseplate. The stow pin can be inserted into the turret for controllably engaging the baseplate. The stow pin includes a housing, a shaft, a tip, first and second inlets, first and second channels, and a piston. The housing encloses an axial bore with a piston cavity extending radially from the bore. The piston cavity has proximal and distal axial limits. The shaft is disposed in the bore to translate therealong, and has proximal and distal ends. The tip is disposed on the proximal end of the shaft for insertion into the baseplate. The first and second inlets receive fluid under pressure. The first channel transfers the fluid from the first inlet to the piston cavity at the proximal limit. The second channel transfers the fluid from the second inlet to the piston cavity at the distal limit. The piston is disposed on the shaft to translate axially within the piston cavity between the proximal and distal ends as respective engage and release positions. The fluid received in the first inlet and transferred to the first channel pushes the piston to the release position, while the fluid received in the second inlet and transferred to the second channel pushes the piston to the engage position. The tip engages the baseplate responsive to the piston being at the engage position, but released from the baseplate responsive to the piston being at the release position. Additionally, the stow pin can include a disk cavity, a disk, and proximal and distal sensors. The disk cavity is contained within the housing and extending radially from the axial bore. The disk connects to the shaft to translate axially within the disk cavity. The proximal and distal sensors connect to the disk corresponding to first and second disposal of said piston.
