Aspects of the disclosure relate to enabling playing of content at an autonomous vehicle. For example, a request to transport a user on a trip may be received. The autonomous vehicle may be assigned to the trip. Whether the user has enabled a content feature may be determined. In response to determining that the user has enabled the content feature a request for a device identifier is sent to the autonomous vehicle. The device identifier generated at the autonomous vehicle is received. The received device identifier may be sent to a content-enabling computing system including one or more processors in order to enable the user to play content from the client computing device at the autonomous vehicle during the trip.

The technology includes communicating the current status of a self-driving vehicle to users, such as passengers within the vehicle and other users awaiting pickup. Certain information about the trip and vehicle status is communicated depending on where the passenger is sitting within the vehicle or where the person awaiting pickup is located outside the vehicle. This includes disseminating the 'monologue' of a vehicle operating in an autonomous driving mode to a user via an app on the user's device (e.g., mobile phone, tablet or laptop PC, wearable, or other computing device) and/or an in-vehicle user interface. The monologue includes current status information regarding driving decisions and related operations or actions. This alerts the user as to why the vehicle is taking (or not taking) a certain action, which reduces confusion and allows the user to focus on other matters.

The technology involves communicating the reachability status associated with an autonomous vehicle to a user such as a rider within the vehicle, a person awaiting pickup, or a customer that scheduled a package deliver. Reachability information about pickup and/or drop off locations is presentable via an app on a user device, which helps set expectations with customers about where the vehicle is most likely to be able to perform a pickup and/or drop off. This may include indicating how much variance there may be based on current congestion, parking or idling regulations, or weather conditions. The reachability information may be presented via one or more visualization tools to indicate the uncertainty and/or likely final location. Presenting such contextual information may be done based on real time information, and the presentation may be updated as needed. Historical information about the location may also be used to lower the level of uncertainty.

Reachability user experience interfaces for autonomous vehicles

The technology relates to a seamless interface between an autonomous vehicle service provider and one or more ridesharing, ride-hailing or delivery partner companies, in order to provide timely, efficient rider or delivery services and support. A partner trip application programming interface (API) provides robust features to the ridesharing or ride-hailing partner companies and also supports delivery of meals, groceries, packages or other cargo. For instance, the API may be employed with delivery partners (e.g., food, package or bulk cargo delivery), and/or for concierge services (e.g., a hotel or medical provider or an e-commerce specialist that coordinates deliveries). The technology supports both ad hoc and scheduled trips. Agents for different partners may schedule trips to or from specific stores or other (geofenced) locations, and observe and manage trips for an entire enterprise. Permissions can be tailored for each agent.

A table carried at the distal end of a table leg that is configured for anchoring entirely on a toilet. The table leg is anchored at its proximal end to an upside-down J-bracket configured to couple with the rim of a toilet bowl. A J-bracket typically includes a clamping mechanism to horizontally squeeze the rim. Table elevation above floor level may be adjusted by way of a telescopic table leg, and/or a coupling mechanism between the proximal table leg end and the J-bracket. Horizontal orientation of the table top surface may be maintained by an anti-twist mechanism and an anti-roll mechanism.
