A method of and apparatus for operating a radiation treatment delivery system. The method includes generating, by a processing device, a set of instructions for a volumetric imager based on a set of directionalities for a radiation beam of a linear accelerator (LINAC) to avoid a collision between the volumetric imager and the LINAC, wherein the set of instructions comprises physical locations of the volumetric imager and timing values corresponding to the physical locations. The method further includes operating the volumetric imager during the radiation treatment delivery according to the set of instructions.

Coordinated motion of a rotating 2D x-ray imager and a linear accelerator

A method includes receiving, from a volumetric imager, a first image including a target of a patient. The method further includes receiving a second image including the target of the patient. The method further includes tracking, by a processing device, a position of the target using the first image and the second image by maintaining a fixed alignment between a treatment beam of a linear accelerator (LINAC) and a source and detector pair of the volumetric imager during operation of the LINAC.

Using a rotating 2D x-ray imager as an imaging device to perform target tracking during radiation treatment delivery

Images that are associated with an identification of a tracking target of a patient to receive radiation treatment may be received. The images may be sorted into a sequence based on a motion of the patient. The sorted images may be provided via a graphical user interface. The sequence of the sorted images that are based on the motion of the patient may be provided.

Presenting a sequence of images associated with a motion model

A method includes determining a first set of positions for a volumetric imager and determining a second set of positions for a linear accelerator (LINAC), during radiation treatment delivery. The method further includes determining a set of radiation beam directionalities of the LINAC, wherein for each of the second set of positions for the LINAC a radiation beam corresponds to a radiation beam directionality. The method further includes generating instructions for the volumetric imager based on the first and the second set of positions, the radiation beam directionalities, and a treatment time constraint to avoid a collision between the volumetric imager and the LINAC and between the volumetric imager and the radiation beam, wherein the instructions include physical locations of the volumetric imager and timing values corresponding to the physical locations. The method further includes operating the volumetric imager during the radiation treatment delivery according to the set of instructions.

A method and apparatus for manipulation of a respiratory model via adjustment of parameters associated with model images is described. A subset of the images that are used with the model that is associated with the position and motion of a targeted region of the patient to receive radiation treatment may be identified. The subset of images may be sorted. A graphical user interface (GUI) that identifies two or more of the images of the sorted subset may be provided. A selection associated with one of the images of the sorted subset may be received by the GUI. Furthermore, a new model to identify the targeted region based on the selection that is associated with one of the two or more images may be generated.

An image guided treatment is performed to treat a target. To perform the image guided treatment, measurement data indicative of target motion is acquired. A timing of one or more x-ray images is determined based on the measurement data. Treatment may be performed on the target using the position of the target.

Controlling x-ray imaging based on target motion

A treatment delivery system or a simulation system simulates treatment of a patient, including testing the ability of one or more tracking methods to track a target position during the simulation. The system then presents simulation results to a user, the simulation results indicating whether any of the one or more tracking methods will successfully track the target position during treatment delivery.

Method and apparatus for selecting a tracking method to use in image guided treatment

A method and apparatus for positioning a patient for radiation treatment are described. The method includes obtaining a plurality of projection images of a patient positioned on a treatment couch, displaying at least one of the plurality of projection images with a corresponding synthetic projection image on a display, adjusting the position of the at least one projection image on the display to approximately align with the corresponding synthetic projection image in response to a user dragging the at least one projection image on the display with a user interface device, and moving the treatment couch to position the patient based on position adjustments of the at least one projection image.

A patient positioning assembly for therapeutic radiation treatment includes a support device for supporting the patient during treatment, and a controller for controlling the motion of the support device so that the treatment target within the patient is properly aligned with respect to a radiosurgical treatment apparatus throughout the treatment. The controller generates motion command signals for implementing corrective motions of the support device. The corrective motions align the target so that the position and orientation of the target, as shown in near real time image data, substantially match the position and orientation of the target, as shown in pre-treatment scans. One or more user interface modules, for example a handheld remote control module and a user interface screen, allows the user to interactively control the motion of the support device, by implementing one or more user selectable functions.
