Methods and apparatus are provided for an open ear audio device outputting audio using an external audio speaker, bone conduction speaker, or both an external audio speaker and bone conduction speaker. In an aspect, sound is output using either the audio speaker or the bone conduction speaker based on the type of sound. Audio the user desires to keep private are configured to be output using the bone conduction speaker. In an aspect, the audio device simultaneously outputs a first sound using the audio speaker and a second sound using the bone conduction speaker. The user receives both streams of audio and selects which sound to focus on. In an aspect, the audio device determines how to output audio based on the SPL of the user's environment.

Various implementations include a wearable audio device for enhancing the acoustic response proximate a user, for example, in the direction of the user's mouth. In particular implementations, a wearable audio device includes: a head mount having: a crown portion for resting on a head of a user, and a brim extending from the crown portion in a forward-oriented direction; and a plurality of microphones coupled to the brim of the head mount.

A method for dynamically changing the master audio playback device of a set that includes at least two audio playback devices, wherein one audio playback device of the set is a set master audio playback device that controls the play of audio data by at least one other slave audio playback device of the set. A first slave audio playback device receives its selection as a new recipient of audio data and, in response, the first slave audio playback device is designated as a new set master audio playback device and the set master audio playback device is designated as a new slave audio playback device. The new set master audio playback device controls the play of audio by the new slave audio playback device.

A user interface for an electronic device incorporating a touch sensitive display forms a touch input zone on a portion of the display. The touch input zone is split into two sections separated by an origin axis. The origin axis may be fixed or may be determined by an initial touch by a user in the touch zone. The device detects a touch by the user in the touch zone and changes a controllable variable or a pointer to an item within a scrollable list of data elements based on the location of the detected touch relative to the origin axis, where the rate of change is determined by the distance from the touch location to the origin axis and the direction of change is determined by the section in which the touch is detected.

A method of connecting a first computing device and a wireless access point over a first wireless network using a second computing device, where the first and second computing devices are both enabled to communicate over the first wireless network and are both enabled to communicate over a second, different wireless network, and where there are first wireless network connection credentials for the wireless access point. The method includes establishing a wireless connection between the first and second computing devices over the second wireless network, sending the first wireless network connection credentials for the wireless access point from the second computing device to the first computing device over the second wireless network, and then establishing a connection between the first computing device and the wireless access point on the first network using the first wireless network connection credentials for the wireless access point.
