A method includes establishing a first session (e.g., a Wi-Fi call) via a first connection to a first network, where the connection to the first network is provided by a first receiver of the mobile device, and monitoring a characteristic of the first connection to the first network. The method includes determining whether the characteristic satisfies a threshold. When the characteristic does not satisfy the threshold, the method includes activating a second receiver of the mobile device, establishing a second connection to a second network, and initiating a handover procedure to transfer the first session from the first network to the second network. The second connection to the second network is provided by the second receiver of the mobile device. As a result of the handover procedure, the first session may be merged with or transferred to a second session (e.g., a cellular call) provided via the second network.

Techniques for handout of an active session from a first network to a second network

A mobile device may establish and register a connection to a first network at a registration server, and may subsequently establish and register a connection to a second network at the registration server. Registration of the connection to the second network may designate the second network as a primary network for providing services to the mobile device. In response to the registration of the connection to the second network, the mobile device may receive a notification indicating the connection to the second network is designated as a primary connection for providing at least one service to the mobile device. In response to receiving the notification, the mobile device may transmit, to a network entity, a pullback message including a request to refresh the registration of the first network at the registration server, thereby designating the first network as the primary network for providing the services to the mobile device.

A system, method, and computer-readable medium for resource migration in a distributed telecommunication system is provided. Respective sets of performance parameters of a first plurality of nodes disposed in a first node group and a second plurality of nodes in a second node group are collected. Service capabilities of the first node group and the second node group are evaluated based on the sets of performance parameters. One node group of the first node group and the second node group is designated as a currently preferred node group in response to evaluation of the service capabilities. The steps of collecting, evaluating, and designating are repeated a plurality of times. The currently preferred node group is designated as an active preferred node group in the event that a sequence of evaluating service capabilities each results in the one node group being designated as the currently preferred node group.

An optimal digit translation and call processing system and method is provided. A prefix translation and digit characterization process are performed utilizing a digit prefix table and a second table interfaced therewith. The digit prefix table contains numerous records corresponding to prefixes of dialed digit streams. Each record includes an index to a record of a second table operable to output a termination type of the digit stream. The second table includes numerous records associated with various call termination types. Each index included within respective records of the digit prefix table may reference more than one record of the second table. The digit stream length is analyzed to resolve ambiguities in the digit stream when an index in a record of the digit prefix table references more than one record of the second table. Multiple records of the digit prefix table may have a common index to an identical record of the second table thus reducing the required number of records in the second table for characterizing call termination types. A call screening table is interrogated with termination type data obtained from the second table. The call screening table can pass call control to a national or international translator table which provide a route index on which further call processing is performed. The route index may be modified by an originator routing table, a carrier identification code routing table and a time of day routing table before the call is ultimately routed.

Call processing digit translation and characterization

A system for switching communications signals between a first communications network and a second communications network is provided. The system includes a J1 interface coupled to the first communications network by a J1 span, a E1 interface coupled to the second communications network by an E1 span, and an interface processor in communication with the J1 interface and the E1 interface. The interface processor is then operable to translate signals formatted for the J1 span into an E1 format for transmission on the El span. The interface processor is further operable to translate communications signals formatted for the E1 span into a J1 format for transmission on the J1 span.
