In some embodiments, security and/or automation systems, collectively referred to as automation systems, may facilitate communications between a remote user and an occupant of a residence. The automation system may receive one or more communications from a user and deliver the communication to the specified recipient when the recipient occupies the residence. The automation system may determine the recipient is proximate the residence and may notify the recipient of the pending communication. The recipient may use the control panel or another device associated with the security and/or automation system to receive the message.

Personalized communications

A method including determining an occupancy state of a building relating to a user, detecting a condition of a component of the security and/or automation system associated with the home, displaying, based at least in part on the determined occupancy state of the user and the detected condition of the component, a message related to the user on a graphical conversational user interface ('G-CUI'). The message include a request for permission from the user to initiate a change associated with the component of the system. The method may include receiving, via the G-CUI, a response from the user including an instruction whether to grant permission to initiate the change based at least in part on the displaying, and generating a rule associated with the component and a future occupancy state of the home relating to the user based at least in part on the received response.

Rule-based graphical conversational user interface for security and automation system

Methods, apparatuses, and techniques for security and/or automation systems are described. In one embodiment, the method may include receiving a call initiation instruction at a video monitoring component of a home automation system. The method may further include analyzing the call initiation instruction, and communicating a call request from the video monitoring component of the home automation system to a first remote user based at least in part on the received call initiation instruction.

Home automation system-initiated calls

A method for security and/or automation systems is described. In one embodiment, the method may include receiving a plurality of video footage at a home automation system from at least one video monitor. The method may further include reviewing the plurality of video footage recorded over a predetermined period of time. The method may further include automatically identifying at least one distinguishing feature in the video footage over the predetermined period of time, and automatically indexing the video footage based, at least in part, on identifying the at least one distinguishing feature in the video footage.

Methods ad systems are described for generating custom rules for device operation in a home environment. A method includes monitoring an activity in home environment via one or more sensors, generating a recommended action associated with the at least one device based on the monitored activity, receiving user input regarding the recommended action, determining a trend based on the received user input, and adjusting performance of the at least one device based on the determined trend.

Automatic custom rule generation for home automation system

A method for security and/or automation systems is described. In one embodiment, the method may include receiving input regarding at least one home automation system operation profile. The method may further include receiving monitored sleep data of at least one user of a home automation system associated with the at least one home automation system operation profile. The method may further include comparing the received monitored sleep data with the received input regarding the at least one home automation system operation profile, and may include implementing the at least one home automation system operation profile based, at least in part, on the comparing.

System and methods for correlating sleep data to security and/or automation system operations

The present disclosure relates to systems and methods for monitoring baby physical characteristics. In some embodiments, the method may include projecting light from a video monitoring system toward a monitored user, and detecting a heart rate of the monitored user at the video monitoring system based at least in part on detecting the projected light. The method may further include comparing the detected heart rate with a predetermined heart rate threshold, and initiating an alert based at least in part on the comparing.

Monitoring baby physical characterstics

An assembly, method, apparatus, and system for supplying power to security, life safety, information technology, and/or automation system components is disclosed. Some embodiments may include a power supply with a projecting terminal and a cable having a first end with an electrical contact surface for contacting a power transmitting surface of the projecting terminal to establish an electrical connection, so that a first end housing portion surrounds the electrical contact surface and at least partially covers the projecting terminal. The electrical contact surface may be adjustable using a spring, which may also assist in maintaining contact with the power transmitting surface located at the projecting terminal distal end. A cable second end may connect with an electronic device, and may be customizable according to the electronic device. Embodiments may also include keying features for ensuring connection with appropriate power supplies.

Projecting terminal power supply

In some embodiments, the security and/or automation system, collectively referred to herein as automation system, may include a system for remotely monitoring a residence while respecting the privacy of occupants of the residence and the need for safety and security concerns. When a user is actively monitoring a residence, the system may provide a notification to occupants that remote monitoring is active. The remote monitoring may comprise video feed viewing of the residence, review of still images, audio review, and the like. The remote monitoring may allow review of multiple areas or rooms of a residence, the outside of a residence, and the like. The notifications may alert an occupant when a user is remotely viewing an audio feed, a video feed, images, or the like. However, the user may be disable the notifications if so desired.

Smart surveillance systems

In some embodiments, security and/or automation systems, collectively referred to as automation systems, may offer a user the comforts of automatically controlling HVAC settings based at least in part on an alarm. The automation system may provide automatically meet desired HVAC conditions at select times and provide a more comfortable living situation. In some embodiments, the increased comfort level may enable or ease household activities. For example, if a person sleeps with a cooler temperature, it may be harder for the person to get out of bed. But an automated HVAC system may adjust the temperature such that when a person desires to wake up, the temperature is comfortable and may ease a transition from day to night.

Alarm-clock triggered systems

An automation system may include a smart doorman. The system may observe one or more guests to a residence, predict a user profile associated with the guest, and invite an administrator of the automation system to create the suggested profile of the guest. The system may store one or more biometric identifiers with a visitation pattern to determine if the guest requires a profile. In one embodiment, a method for security and/or automation systems may be described. The method may include detecting the presence of one or more guests at an entrance to a residence and comparing the presence of a guest to one or more profile parameters. A guest profile associated with the guest may be predicted based at least in part on the comparing.

Smart doorman

Apparatuses, techniques, and methods for a security and/or automation system are described. In some cases, these may include a first user recording a message and the message being broadcast or conveyed to a second user based on the second user's identity and/or location and/or a relevant time of recording or broadcasting, among other things. The methods may include receiving a first communication from a first user, storing the first communication in memory, identifying a second user at a first location, retrieving the first communication from memory, the retrieving based at least in part on the identification of the second user, and conveying the first communication to the second user at the first location.
