Modulated light therapy devices for treatment of dermatological disorders of the scalp are provided. An exemplary device includes a flexible printed circuit board (FPCB) supporting at least one light emitting device having an emitter height. The FPCB includes multiple interconnected panels and bending regions defined in and between at least some of the interconnected panels as to allow the FPCB to be configured in a concave shape to cover at least a portion of a cranial vertex of the patient. At least one light-transmissive layer proximate to the FPCB is configured to transmit (e.g., incoherent) light emissions generated by at least one light emitting device. At least one standoff is configured to be arranged between the FPCB and the scalp of the patient, wherein the at least one standoff includes a standoff height that exceeds the emitter height.

Compressive imaging captures images in compressed form, where each sensor does not directly correspond with a pixel, as opposed to standard image capture techniques. This can lead to faster image capture rates due to lower I/O bandwidth requirements, and avoids the need for image compression hardware, as the image is captured in compressed form. Measuring the transformation of an emitted multimodal signal is one method of compressive imaging. Metamaterial antennas and transceivers are well suited for both emitting and receiving multimodal signals, and are thus prime candidates for compressive imaging.

Metamaterial devices and methods of using the same

An antenna arrangement for a solid-state lamp is disclosed. Embodiments of the invention provide for improved performance by positioning the antenna for radio frequency (RF) control of the lamp non-parallel to the main driver board and/or the LED board. This positioning can provide distance from the main board circuitry and a ground plane for the antenna. An RF daughter card can be used for the antenna and also possibly for other RF components. In some embodiments, the antenna is substantially perpendicular to the main board. In some embodiments, the lamp is dimensioned as a replacement for a standard incandescent bulb, such as an A, BR, or PAR bulb. In some embodiments, an optically transmissive enclosure and/or a base define the interior cavity of the lamp. A plurality of LEDs can be disposed within the optically transmissive enclosure.

Multi-sensor compressive imaging systems can include an imaging component (such an an RF, microwave, or mmW metamaterial surface antenna) and an auxiliary sensing component (such as an EO/IR sensor). In some approaches, the auxiliary sensing component includes a structured light sensor configured to identify the location or posture of an imaging target within a field of view of the imaging component. In some approaches, a reconstructed RF, microwave, or mmW image may be combined with a visual image of a region of interest to provide a multi-spectral representation of the region of interest.

A dimmable solid state lighting apparatus can include a plurality of light emitting diode (LED) segments including a first LED segment that can have a targeted spectral power distribution for light emitted from the apparatus that is different than spectral power distributions for other LED segments included in the plurality of LED segments. An LED segment selection circuit can be configured to selectively control current through the plurality of LED segments to shift the light emitted by the apparatus to the targeted spectral power distribution responsive to dimming input.

Subscription based multiple-input-single-output and multiple-input-multiple-output wireless energy transfer enables selective charging and powering of mobile devices using a plurality of spatially distributed transmitters that are synchronized under the control of a transmitter controller. Amplitude, phase, and frequency of each transmitter is controlled to promote or deny the transfer of energy to particular mobile devices or positions through optimization techniques based on the incident power level at each mobile device subscribing to the system. Measurements related to the incident power level may be directly provided by the mobile device or the incident power is remotely determined through analysis of backscatter gains.

A sensor may include a substrate having a sensing portion defining a sensor thereon and a circuit mounting portion defining at least one electrically conductive pad that is electrically connected to the sensor. The sensor may be configured to produce a signal indicative of a condition of the patient. An anisotropic medium may be disposed on the circuit mounting portion and may be electrically conductive in a direction through the medium and electrically insulating in directions along the medium. An electrical circuit may be mechanically mounted to the circuit mounting portion of the first substrate via the anisotropic medium with at least one electrically conductive terminal juxtaposed over the at least one electrically conductive pad. The anisotropic medium may establish local electrical contact between the at least one electrically conductive terminal and the at least one electrically conductive pad.

Sensor for monitoring a condition of a patient

A lamp comprises an interior space and a base. An enclosure may be connected to the base to enclose the interior space. At least one LED board divides the interior space into a plurality of sectors. An LED is located in each sector in the enclosure operable to emit light when energized through an electrical path from the base. Light from the LED is reflected by a wall of the sector to create a reflected light source.

A three-way solid-state light bulb is disclosed. Embodiments of the present invention provide power supply circuitry that allows a solid-state lamp or light bulb to work in a manner similar to that of a common three-way incandescent light bulb. The power supply can selectively receive the input voltage, usually AC line voltage, on first and second input terminals. In some embodiments, a control circuit is operable to influence a feedback loop by diverting current and/or in some cases alter a current sense resistance in accordance with the selective presence of the voltage at the first and second inputs. The light output of the solid-state emitter or solid-state emitters in the bulb is set in accordance with a selective presence of the input voltage.
