A crank gear includes a shaft extending along a centerline. A first bearing, a second bearing, and a gear are mounted to the shaft. An interface at the first end of the shaft for rotating the shaft and the gear about the centerline. The crank gear is reversibly insertable through a port of a gearbox to engage a gear. The gear is rotationally coupled to a rotor of a gas turbine engine.

A shroud is provided and includes first and second curved sections, at least one of which defines a main interior channel and at least one of first and second lube jet sections integrated with the first and second curved sections. The first lube jet section includes a summit at which proximal portions of the first and second curved sections meet and defines a first jetting interior channel fluidly communicative with the main interior channel and terminating at the summit. The second lube jet section includes an elongate member extending from one of the first and second curved sections and defines a second jetting interior channel fluidly communicative with the main interior channel and terminating at a distal end of the elongate member.

A gear assembly includes a first gear wheel including a first gear wherein a plurality of teeth of the first gear are oriented in a first direction and a second gear wherein a plurality of teeth of the second gear are oriented not-parallel to the primary axis. A second gear wheel is configured to match the second gear of the first gear wheel including an outer gear and an inner gear wherein a plurality of teeth of the inner gear are oriented parallel to the plurality of teeth of second gear. A retention member can be used to secure the second gear wheel on the first gear wheel.

A gas and liquid separation system could be said to have a passage with an inlet connected to receive a mixed gas and liquid flow. An air separation tube extends into the passage at a location downstream of where the inlet is connected with an upstream tube end upstream in the passage relative to a downstream tube end. The upstream tube end provides an obstruction to the mixed gas and liquid flow, to cause separation of the gas from the mixed gas and liquid flow. A liquid tube is connected to the passage at a location downstream of the air separation tube.

An assembly for manually rotating a rotor includes a housing enclosing a first shaft and a second shaft accessible through an exterior wall of the housing. The first shaft extends from a first end rotationally coupled to the rotor to a second end selectively engageable with the second shaft. The second shaft includes a thrust plate extending from and rotatable with the second shaft. A spring disposed between the thrust plate and the housing biases the second shaft towards the exterior wall of the housing.

A drive assembly for a gas turbine engine according to an exemplary embodiment includes, among other things, an epicyclic gear train having an input and an output, the input coupled to a first turbine, the output coupled to an accessory drive shaft, and at least one engagement feature on a component of the gear train. An actuator is engageable with the at least one engagement feature to cause the accessory drive shaft to rotate. A method of driving a section of a gas turbine engine is also disclosed.

A method of manufacturing a motoring system for a gas turbine having the steps of: assembling a pinned mechanical fuse, the pinned mechanical fuse including at least one shear pin; forming an outer housing; installing a reduction gear train into the outer housing, the reduction gear train having an input and an output; operably connecting a motor to the input; operably connecting a clutch to the output using the pinned mechanical fuse, the clutch in operation engages and disengages the reduction gear train; operably connecting a starter to the clutch, the starter having an output shaft; and operably connecting an accessory gearbox to the output shaft of the starter. The clutch is operably connected to the accessory gearbox through the starter and the output shaft. The at least one shear pin in operation shears when torque on the pinned mechanical fuse is greater than or equal to a selected value.

Method for manufacturing a motoring system for a gas turbine engine

An oil reservoir assembly includes a tank, a return passage, a pressurization valve, a first passage, and a vent valve. The tank includes a canister, a fill port, an first oil outlet, an second air outlet, and an inlet. The inlet is disposed in the canister and is connected to a restrictor. The return passage is connected to the inlet of the tank and to a scavenge pump. The pressurization valve is fluidly connected to the second air outlet of the tank. The first passage is connected to the pressurization valve and to an accessory gearbox of the engine. The vent valve is disposed in the return passage and includes a body, a channel extending through the body, an inlet orifice, and an outlet orifice. The inlet orifice is disposed in an end of the body. The outlet orifice is fluidly connected to the inlet orifice via the channel.

A method of manufacturing a motoring system for a gas turbine engine including the steps of: forming a mechanical shaft fuse, the mechanical shaft fuse including a plurality of through holes; forming an outer housing; installing a reduction gear train into the outer housing, the reduction gear train having an input and an output; operably connecting an electric motor to the input; operably connecting a clutch to the output using the mechanical shaft fuse, the clutch in operation engages and disengages the reduction gear train; operably connecting a starter to the clutch, the starter having an output shaft; and operably connecting an accessory gearbox to the output shaft of the starter. The mechanical shaft fuse in operation shears when torque on the mechanical is greater than or equal to a selected value.

A tank vent tube for a deaerator tank system, comprising a tube body. The tube body can define a vent channel. The tube can include a relief hole defined through the tube body. The tube can include a venturi structure disposed in the vent channel of the tube body at least partially over the relief hole. The venturi structure can be configured to reduce pressure over the relief hole as a function of flow in the vent channel.

According to an aspect, a method of providing internal shaft lubrication includes drip feeding a lubricant to a feed tube within a central bore of a shaft body. The lubricant is urged along a lubrication flow path including at least one rifling groove on an inner wall of the shaft body formed by the central bore and a plurality of lubrication holes axially distributed along the shaft body that fluidically connects the inner wall with an outer wall of the shaft body. The lubricant is sprayed out of the lubrication holes responsive to rotation of the shaft body.

A gear box assembly includes an outer housing and a gear box shaft at least partially disposed in the outer housing. The gear box shaft includes an interior region, a reservoir dam that separates the interior region into a reservoir volume and a spline volume and one or more gear box shaft venting holes formed through the gear box shaft near an end thereof. The assembly also includes a regulator disposed at least partially within the gear box shaft, the regulator including one or more regulator vent holes, wherein at least one of the regulator venting holes is in fluid communication with one of the one or more gear box shaft vent holes.

Vented gear spline lubrication

A method of assembling a bearing assembly includes fitting a first ring onto a first end of a gear shaft. A second ring is fed into a slot in the first ring. The second ring is driven through the slot in the first ring. The second ring is positioned within the first ring. The second ring is positioned about the gear shaft such that a first end and a second end of the second ring are covered by a solid portion of the first ring.
