Systems and methods are provided for controlling deceleration fuel shut off (DFSO) in response to an external object or location, such as a target vehicle. In one example, a method may include, while operating an engine in DFSO, determining a rate of change of a range to the target vehicle, and commanding an exit from the DFSO based on the range rate of change. By exiting the DFSO based on the range rate of change, torque lash experienced by a driver may be correspondingly reduced as compared to exiting the DFSO based upon, for example, one or more powertrain operating conditions.

Systems and methods for controlling deceleration fuel shut off in response to detection of an external object or location

A vehicle system is provided. The vehicle system may include a processor configured to detect a wireless device based on a received device signal when a vehicle is at an origin location, add the detected device to a tracking list, register a trigger event away from the origin location, and, responsive to detection of the trigger event, attempt to detect devices on the tracking list. The processor may be further configured to report, to a vehicle occupant, all devices on the tracking list not detected by the attempt. The received device signal may be from a radio-frequency identification sensor. The received device signal may transfer to the processor via Wi-Fi. The received device signal may transfer to the processor via BLUETOOTH. The trigger event may be a vehicle start-up.

Method and apparatus for device detection and detection management within a vehicle

Embodiments provide a vehicle that can establish a network of nearby vehicles in order to upload large amounts of data. An example vehicle includes a sensor, a communication system, and a processor. The processor is configured to establish a network comprising a plurality of nearby vehicles having respective data upload rates, separate data gathered by the sensor into segments based on the respective data upload rates, and transmit to the plurality of nearby vehicles using the communication system (i) the segments, and (ii) instructions for uploading the segments to a server.
