A soft wall containment system having a casing, a liner system, a containment blanket, and a barrel including multiple features is provided. The soft wall containment system may selectively be installable in a gas turbine engine having a turbine with multiple airfoils. The barrel features may be disposed outboard of the airfoils. The casing barrel may have a first thickness, the casing barrel features may have a second thickness, and the first thickness may be greater than the second thickness. Additionally, the features may be slots that extend through the thickness of the barrel.

Nose cone assembly weight and coupling difficulty are each reduced by reducing or eliminating the number of bolts used to mount the nose cone to the turbine machine, as well as the support or retaining ring. The disclosed nose cone comprises a plurality of hub mounting elements disposed around the circumference of a base portion, each of the hub mounting elements comprising a flexible flange extending toward the central axis and having a ridge protruding from a radially outward facing surface. The flexible flange is configured to deflect toward the central axis upon engagement with the hub.

An aggregate vane assembly is disclosed herein. The aggregate vane assembly includes a core vane assembly encircling a central longitudinal axis. The core vane assembly has a plurality of core vanes each extending radially between an inner hub and an outer band. The core vane assembly extends along the central longitudinal axis between a first forward end and a first aft end. The aggregate vane assembly also includes a bypass vane assembly disposed on a radially opposite side of the outer band relative to the plurality of core vanes. The bypass vane assembly includes at least one bypass vane extending radially outward from a platform. The bypass vane assembly extends along the central longitudinal axis between a second forward end and a second aft end. The aggregate vane assembly also includes at least one boss fixed with the outer band and operable to engage the bypass vane assembly proximate to the second forward end.

Aggregate vane assembly

A fan blade retaining and sealing ring assembly for an aft side of a bladed disk assembly is disclosed herein. The ring assembly includes an inner ring operable to prevent aft movement of a fan blade positioned in a slot formed in the blade disk. The ring assembly also includes an outer ring operable to seal against a platform of the fan blade. The inner ring and the outer ring are formed from different materials.
