A prosthesis can be configured to grasp intralumenal tissue when deployed within a body cavity and prevent axial flow of fluid around an exterior of the prosthesis. The prosthesis can include an expandable frame configured to radially expand and contract for deployment within the body cavity and a valve body. The expandable frame can include a frame body and a supplemental frame. The valve body can include a plurality of leaflets and one or more intermediate components. The one or more intermediate components can couple at least a portion of the leaflets to the expandable frame. The prosthesis can include an annular flap positioned around an exterior of the expandable frame.

Replacement heart valve prosthesis

A method of implanting a prosthetic heart valve at a native tricuspid valve region includes delivering a prosthetic heart valve to the native tricuspid valve region via the inferior vena cava or the superior vena cava and deploying the prosthetic heart valve from a sheath of a delivery apparatus. The prosthetic heart valve includes a radially compressible and expandable frame assembly having an inflow end, an outflow end, and a double-body structure having an annular inner frame and an annular outer frame. The outer frame preferably includes an atrial flange portion configured to contact an atrial face of the native tricuspid valve region. The prosthetic heart valve can further include a plurality of ventricular anchors, each comprising a free end portion and a fixed end portion connected to and extending from the frame assembly at a location spaced from the outflow end of the frame assembly.

Method for replacing a tricuspid valve

A method for heart valve replacement comprises forming an incision in a wall of a ventricle of a heart and inserting a delivery apparatus and a prosthetic heart valve through the incision and into the ventricle of the heart. The prosthetic valve comprises a self-expanding frame having an annular main body and a valve member disposed within the annular main body. The prosthetic valve further comprises an atrial sealing member formed by an annular metal ring and a fabric, wherein only the fabric of the atrial sealing member is connected to the main body for enhancing the flexibility and conformability of the atrial sealing member. The method further comprises deploying the prosthetic valve from the delivery apparatus such that the atrial sealing member extends radially outwardly from the main body within an atrium of the heart and the main body self-expands to a deployed state within a native heart valve.

A prosthetic device includes a main body, a first anchor, a second anchor, a first anchor spreader, and a second anchor spreader. The first anchor is coupled to the main body such that a spring force of the first anchor biases the first anchor toward the main body. The second anchor is coupled to the main body such that a spring force of the second anchor biases the second anchor against the main body. The first anchor spreader is coupled to the first anchor such that applying a force to the first anchor spreader moves the first anchor away from the main body against the spring force of the first anchor. The second anchor spreader is coupled to the second anchor such that applying a force to the second anchor spreader moves the second anchor away from the main body against the spring force of the second anchor.

Method of implanting a spacer body in a mitral valve

A method of implanting a prosthetic apparatus preferably includes delivering the prosthetic apparatus to a native mitral valve and exposing ventricular anchors and a spacer body of the prosthetic apparatus from a distal end portion of a delivery apparatus. The ventricular anchors are controllably and forcibly expanded outwardly from the spacer body to an expanded configuration. The prosthetic apparatus is positioned relative to the native mitral valve such that native mitral valve leaflets are located between the ventricular anchors and the spacer body. The ventricular anchors are then contracted radially inwardly toward the spacer body to a compressed configuration. In the compressed configuration, the native mitral valve leaflets are secured between the ventricular anchors and the spacer body. After implantation, the spacer body is held between the native mitral valve leaflets, thereby blocking regurgitation and improving the function of the native mitral valve.

A method of replacing the function of a native heart valve is achieved by inserting a distal end portion of a delivery apparatus into a patient's body, wherein a prosthetic valve is disposed along the distal end portion of the delivery apparatus. The prosthetic valve includes a collapsible and expandable annular body having a network of struts interconnected at a plurality of nodes to form a plurality of open cells. Atrial and ventricular flanges are coupled to the annular body and extend radially away from the annular body. The annular body includes three commissure support posts of fixed length that extend substantially the entire length of the annular body. A valve member is secured to the commissure support posts. The annular body is radially expanded within the native heart valve and the atrial and ventricular flanges are deployed on opposite sides of the native heart valve.

Dual-flange prosthetic valve frame

Embodiments of a prosthetic heart valve comprise an annular main body, an atrial cap extending radially outwardly from the atrial end of the main body, and a plurality of ventricular anchors extending outwardly from the ventricular end of the main body. Each ventricular anchor can have a proximal end portion connected to the ventricular end, an intermediate portion extending away from the atrial end and then back toward the atrial so as to define a first bend, and a free distal end portion that extends from the intermediate portion. The distal end portion can comprise a first section, a second section, and a second bend between the first and second sections, the first section extending from the intermediate portion in a direction toward the atrial end and radially away from the main body.

Prosthetic valve for replacing a native mitral or tricuspid valve

A replacement mitral valve prosthesis includes a support structure and a valve body having three flexible leaflets. The support structure preferably includes an internal valve frame and an external sealing frame. The valve frame supports the flexible leaflets. The sealing frame is adapted to conform to the shape of the native mitral valve annulus. The sealing frame may be coupled to an inlet end of the valve frame, an outlet end of the valve frame, or both. A plurality of anchors is coupled to the outlet end of the valve frame. The anchors extend radially outwardly for placement behind native leaflets. The prosthesis preferably includes a skirt disposed along an exterior of the external sealing frame. The prosthesis is collapsible for delivery into the heart via a delivery catheter. The prosthesis is configured to self-expand for deployment in the heart when released from the delivery catheter.

Multi-portion replacement heart valve prosthesis

A heart valve prosthesis for replacing a native mitral valve includes a self-expanding frame with a plurality of anchoring members disposed along the lower region. A valve body is positioned within the self-expanding frame and includes a plurality of leaflets configured to allow blood flow through the self-expanding frame in only one direction. A skirt surrounds the self-expanding frame and is spaced apart therefrom for contacting surrounding tissue and impeding blood flow around the self-expanding frame. The skirt may be reinforced with wires to help maintain a desired shape. The leaflets in the valve body are preferably connected to the self-expanding frame through one or more intermediate components such that the valve body is spaced radially inwardly from an inner surface of the self-expanding frame.

A mitral valve prosthesis includes an hourglass shaped inner frame and a bulbous outer frame. A valve body having a plurality of leaflets is positioned within an interior region of the inner frame. The leaflets are shaped to substantially conform to an interior surface of the inner frame when the leaflets are in an open position. As a result, the gap between the leaflets and the inner frame is decreased, thereby reducing the likelihood of thrombus formation. Ventricular anchors are preferably provided along a distal end of the inner frame. The anchors extend proximally for placement behind native mitral valve leaflets. A fabric skirt may extend along an inner or outer surface of the outer frame. In preferred embodiments, the fabric skirt extends distally beyond a distal end of the outer frame and is adapted for forming a seal along the mitral valve annulus.

Prosthetic mitral valve with improved anchors and seal

A method of replacing the function of a native mitral valve is achieved by inserting a distal end portion of a delivery apparatus into a patient's body, wherein a prosthetic mitral valve is disposed along the distal end portion of the delivery apparatus. The prosthetic mitral valve includes a collapsible and expandable annular body having a network of struts interconnected at a plurality of nodes to form a plurality of open cells. Atrial and ventricular flanges are coupled to the annular body and extend radially away from the annular body. Three commissure support posts extend from the ventricular flange toward a ventricular end of the prosthetic valve and a valve member is secured to the commissure support posts. The prosthetic mitral valve is positioned within the native mitral valve of the patient's heart and the native mitral valve is pinched between the atrial and ventricular flanges.

An implantable prosthetic valve includes a radially collapsible and radially expandable annular frame. The frame includes an annular main body sized to be implanted within a native mitral valve annulus. The frame also includes an atrial sealing member coupled to and extending radially away from the main body. The atrial sealing member is sized to extend over tissue of the native mitral annulus within a left atrium to reduce paravalvular leakage. The atrial sealing member includes an inner zig-zag portion and an outer zig-zag portion. The inner zig-zag portion and the outer zig-zag portion are connected to the main body portion only via a fabric to enhance flexibility of the atrial sealing member relative to the main body. The prosthetic valve also includes a valve member disposed within an interior of the frame.

Prosthetic valve for replacing a mitral valve

A prosthetic heart valve includes a collapsible and expandable frame having a main body, an atrial portion, and at least one ventricular anchor. The atrial portion extends radially outwardly relative to the main body and the ventricular anchor extends from a ventricular end of the main body. The main body and the atrial portion are preferably separate metal components that are coupled together via sutures or a fabric member. The prosthetic heart valve also includes a valve structure that is supported in the main body of the frame. The valve structure has a plurality of leaflets for regulating the flow of blood in one direction.
