An emergency brake device for a rail vehicle, having an emergency brake control valve device which provides an emergency brake control pressure to a pneumatic brake device of the rail vehicle; and having an emergency brake adjustment device which is capable of adjusting the emergency brake control pressure, which is provided to the pneumatic brake device, as a function of at least a load value of the rail vehicle and a speed value of the rail vehicle. A method for controlling an emergency brake device of a rail vehicle or rail vehicle train consisting of several rail vehicles having axles braked by friction brakes, wherein an emergency braking operation is started by an emergency braking input, including identifying at least one axle having inadmissible brake slip during the emergency braking operation in which inadmissible brake slip occurs outside a predetermined optimal brake slip range; identifying at least one axle having no or admissible brake slip during the emergency braking operation by which axle a larger friction braking force can be transferred than by the at least one axle having inadmissible brake slip; and adjusting the friction braking forces on the at least one axle having no or admissible brake slip such that the adjustment can maintain a deviation of the actual deceleration of the rail vehicle from a target deceleration.

Method for controlling an antiskid-regulated friction brake system of a rail vehicle

A method for controlling an antislip-regulated friction brake system of a rail vehicle or rail vehicle train having a number of braked axles which subjects at least two selected axles to a braking pressure exceeding the braking pressure required for braking; measures at least one variable representing the maximum transmittable frictional force in each case between the wheels of the selected axles and the rail; prepares a list associating the selected axles with the respectively transmittable brake friction force; identifies at least one brake-slipping axle from the selected axles in which a brake slip exceeding a predetermined extent occurs; calculates lost braking work; identifies from the list at least one axle in which brake-slipping does not occur or occurs to a permissible extent; and applies the brakes on at least one axle.
