The bearing component comprises an external cylindrical member having an outer bearing surface and an inner cavity, and internal cylindrical member, arranged in the inner cavity of the external cylindrical member and substantially coaxial thereto. The external cylindrical member and the internal cylindrical member form a gap therebetween. A resilient damping feature is arranged in the gap.

The pump comprises a casing; a statoric part stationarily housed in the casing; at least one impeller arranged for rotation in the casing. A process fluid path extends though the statoric part and the impeller. A bearing rotatingly supports the impeller in the casing and a bearing lubrication path is provided, to circulate a fluid flow through the bearing. A rotary screw integral with the impeller and rotating therewith when the pump is operating provides a pumping action on process fluid such that rotation of the impeller promotes process fluid circulation by means of said rotary screw through the bearing lubrication path.

An expander and motor-compressor unit is disclosed. The unit includes a casing and an electric motor arranged in the casing. A compressor is arranged in the casing and drivingly coupled to the electric motor through a central shaft. Furthermore, a turbo-expander is arranged for rotation in the casing and is drivingly coupled to the electric motor and to the compressor through the central shaft.

The present disclosure relates to a turbomachine assembly, which includes a shaft, a radial gas expander supported on the shaft between a first bearing and a second bearing, and a compressor supported on the shaft in overhung position adjacent to one or the other of the first and second bearings. The compressor includes a plurality of movable inlet nozzles and the radial gas expander includes a plurality of movable guide vanes.

A compressed-air energy-storage system, comprising: a variable-nozzle expander configured to receive an airflow at a first pressure and partially expand said airflow at a second pressure, said second pressure being lower than said first pressure, expansion of said airflow in said variable-nozzle expander producing useful mechanical power; a heat generator component configured to receive a fuel and a partially expanded airflow from the variable-nozzle expander; and a turbine configured to receive combustion gas from the heat generator component and expand the combustion gas producing useful mechanical power.

Compressed-air energy-storage system

A carbon dioxide compression system is disclosed. The system comprises at as a first compressor stage and a second compressor stage arranged in series, at least one inter-stage heat exchanger arranged to receive a compressed gas containing carbon dioxide flowing from the first compressor stage into the second compressor stage and to remove waste heat from the compressed gas, and an energy conversion unit, wherein at least part of the waste heat is recovered and transformed into mechanical energy.

A turboexpander-generator unit including a casing with a gas inlet and a gas outlet. The unit further comprises a turboexpander having a turboexpander rotor mounted on a shaft supported for rotation in the casing, and an electric generator arranged in the casing and comprised of a generator stator and a generator rotor mounted on the shaft, for co-rotation with the turboexpander rotor. The unit also comprises a plurality of bearings configured and arranged for rotatingly supporting the shaft in the casing. A gas flow path from the gas inlet to the gas outlet, which extends through the turboexpander and the electric generator. Compressed working gas expands in the turboexpander and generates mechanical power for rotating the generator rotor. The expanded working gas from the turboexpander flow through the electric generator and removes heat therefrom. The bearings comprise gas-lubricated bearings, lubricated with the working gas.

A turboexpander and driven turbomachine system comprising a turboexpander configured for expanding a first fluid and comprising an expander stage with one expander impeller; a first set of moveable inlet guide vanes at the inlet of the expander stage; a driven turbomachine configured for processing a second fluid and comprising a turbomachine impeller; a second set of moveable inlet guide vanes at the inlet of the turbomachine impeller; a mechanical transmission between the turboexpander and the driven turbomachine; and a controller connected to the second set of moveable inlet guide vanes and configured for controlling the second set of moveable inlet guide vanes for adjusting the rotary speed of the driven turbomachine and said turboexpander.

A rotary machine includes a machine rotor, a machine stator, a labyrinth seal disposed between the machine rotor and the machine stator, a dry gas seal disposed between the machine rotor and the machine stator, the dry gas seal being disposed downstream of the labyrinth seal, the labyrinth seal including a labyrinth seal rotor, and, a labyrinth seal stator, the labyrinth seal stator having a cavity containing a heat transfer medium configured to transfer heat between the labyrinth seal stator and a zone adjacent the labyrinth seal stator to cool or heat a pressurized process fluid before the process fluid bears against the dry gas seal.
