A multi-level voltage converter having a first switching circuit including a flying capacitor coupled in parallel with first switches coupled in series, the first switches configured to be driven by a first duty command having a first duty cycle; a second switching circuit including the flying and second switches coupled in series between input voltage terminals of an input voltage, the second switches configured to be driven by a second duty command having a second duty cycle; and a control circuit configured to balance a voltage of the flying capacitor by controlling an interleaved constant frequency modulator to generate the first and second duty cycle commands such that the first and second duty cycles are the same.

A circuit to detect body diode conduction in a switch with an adaptive dead-time scheme for a switched mode power supply. The body-diode of a first switch entering conduction means the first switch is OFF and a second switch can be turned ON. The body diode conduction detector circuit (BDCD) uses relative analysis of the switching node voltage (V). The BDCD circuit acts as a voltage follower in a first phase and a comparator in a second phase. The BDCD circuit tracks Vduring the first phase and samples and holds V+V=Vat the end of the first phase. During the second phase, the BDCD circuit compares V+Vto V. When the body-diode of the first switch enters conduction Vwill become negative and V+Vwill drop below V, and toggle the logic level output of the comparator.

In one example, a circuit for controlling a multi-phase converter is configured to determine an operating condition at a multi-phase converter module. Each phase switching module of a plurality of phase switching modules is configured to electrically couple, based on a respective switching signal, a voltage source to a respective phase of the multi-phase converter module. The circuit is further configured to, for each switching signal, generate an operating value using the operating condition and determine a dynamic hysteresis value for a next switching period using a duration of a previous switching period and a phase shift. The circuit is further configured to, for each switching signal, compare the operating value to a reference value with a hysteretic comparator function using the dynamic hysteresis value and generate the respective switching signal based on the comparison of the operating value to the reference value.

Methods, devices, and integrated circuits are disclosed for efficiently receiving a wireless power transfer. In one example, a device configured for receiving a wireless power transfer includes an active rectifier, rectifier input nodes, and a controller. The controller is operatively coupled to the active rectifier and configured to control the active rectifier to modify the impedance at the rectifier input nodes.

A circuit is described that includes a rectifier configured to rectify a DC output from an AC input, a sensing unit configured to detect a voltage level of the DC output, and a control unit configured to control the rectifier based on the voltage level of the DC output. The control unit is configured to control the rectifier output by at least controlling the rectifier to rectify the DC output from the AC input if the voltage level of the DC output does not indicate an overvoltage condition at the circuit. In addition, the control unit is configured to control the rectifier based on the voltage level of the DC output by at least controlling the rectifier to shunt current from the AC input if the voltage level of the DC output does indicate the overvoltage condition.

A nonlinear converter, such as a DC-DC converter, includes a nonlinear controller configured to receive an output voltage and a current, and configured to generate a PWM signal. The PWM signal is generated based on setting the converter to a first phase associated with both buck and boost modes when a clock signal is asserted, and selecting a second phase associated with the buck mode of the converter, if a sliding function signal achieves a first predetermined relationship with respect to a buck threshold before a next clock signal is asserted, or selecting a third phase associated with the boost mode of the converter, if the sliding function signal achieves a second predetermined relationship with respect to a boost threshold before a next clock signal is asserted. The nonlinear converter may include a power stage configured to provide the output voltage and a coil current to the nonlinear controller.

In a device, a pulse modulation switching logic is provided to generate switching signals of a pulse modulator so as to generate a pulse modulated signal with a first pulse modulation control parameter and a second pulse modulation control parameter. The first pulse modulation control parameter is controlled on the basis of a first control signal, and the second pulse modulation control parameter is controlled on the basis of a second control signal. A first control loop is provided to generate the first control signal from an output signal derived from the pulse modulated signal. A second control loop is provided to generate the second control signal on the basis of the output signal. The first and second control signals are applied to concurrently control the first and second pulse modulation control parameters.

Methods, devices, and integrated circuits are disclosed for providing a buck converter charger in a multiphase buck converter topology comprising at least a first phase, a second phase, and an alternative charging switch, wherein the first phase includes a first high-side switch and a first low-side switch and the second phase includes a second high-side switch and a second low-side switch. The methods, devices, and integrated circuits may control at least one phase to operate as a boost converter, control at least one phase to operate as buck converter, and close the alternative charging switch in the multiphase buck converter topology to connect an alternative charging source to a system voltage output, the alternative charging switch coupled to the first phase between the first high-side switch and the first low-side switch.
