A drive mechanism for a delivery device is presented. The drive mechanism comprises a housing () and a piston rod () having a longitudinal axis (x) and a piston rod feature (). The drive mechanism further comprises a drive member () being movable with respect to the housing (). The drive member () comprises a drive feature (). The drive feature () is selectively engageable with the piston rod feature () by the radial displacement of the drive member () with respect to the piston rod (). When the drive member () is in the first position, the drive member () is disengaged from the piston rod (), and when the drive member () is in the second position, the drive feature () is engaged with the piston rod feature (). When the drive member () moves distally with respect to the housing (), said distal movement is transferred to the piston rod () such that the piston rod () moves distally with respect to the housing ().

Drive mechanism

The priming configuration comprises a piston rod (), a bung (), which is provided to be driven by the piston rod, and a movable element (), which is engaged with the piston rod. The movable element is arranged to be movable in a predefined direction () with respect to the piston rod by a user of the drug delivery device. A movement of the movable element in the predefined direction advances the piston rod in a further direction (), providing a priming of the drug delivery device before use. The predefined direction may especially be transverse to the further direction, and the further direction may especially be directed from the piston rod towards the bung (). A gap () or clearance between the piston rod () and the bung () can thus be removed, and the stiction of the bung () to the cartridge () can be reduced.

Priming configuration for a medical device and drug delivery device comprising a priming configuration

An assembly for a drug delivery device () is presented which comprises a housing () having a proximal end () and a distal end (), a cartridge, a plunger () which is movably retained in the cartridge () and a piston rod (). The assembly further comprises a rod displacement feature (). The assembly is configured such that, in an initial state of the assembly, the piston rod () and the rod displacement feature () are arranged such that movement of the rod displacement feature () from the first position to the second position is transferred to the piston rod () such that the piston rod () is moved with respect to the cartridge () and the assembly is switched from the initial state to a primed state. In the primed state, movement of the rod displacement feature () from the first position to the second position is not transferred to the piston rod ().

Assembly for a drug delivery device and method of operating the same

Methods and apparatus are provided for manufacturing an analyte detecting device. In one embodiment, the apparatus comprises a housing; a penetrating member driver; a cartridge containing a plurality of penetrating members; a display on the cartridge; a linear slider on the housing, the slider coupled to a rod; and the rod moving with the slider, the rod having at least one roller. The device uses the linear motion of the slider to rotate the cartridge, punch open a new cavity and load a new penetrating member.

Method and apparatus for a fluid sampling device

A blood analyzer device has a housing with a top section coupled to a bottom section, a driver and a plurality of penetrating members housed in a disposable positionable in the housing. In one aspect, a body fluid sampling device is provided using a penetrating member to extract fluid from an anatomical feature. The device comprises a penetrating member actuator for moving the penetrating member inbound towards the anatomical feature and a non-spring based, penetrating member retractor for moving the penetrating member outbound away from the anatomical feature. The penetrating member actuator may be adapted to move the penetrating member at a velocity greater than a velocity achieved by the penetrating member retractor.

A method of controlling a penetrating member is provided. The method comprises providing a lancing device comprising a penetrating member driver having a position sensor and a processor that can determine the relative position and velocity of the penetrating member based on measuring relative position of the penetrating member with respect to time; providing a predetermined velocity control trajectory based on a model of the driver and a model of tissue to be contacted. A clamping mechanism for a power tool which has a bayonet washer rotatably mounted on the end of a plunger so that the bayonet washer is rotatable between an open and a closed position. The bayonet washer is biassed towards the closed position by a torsion spring, but is latched in the open position when no operating member is positioned in the clamping mechanism. When an operating member is inserted into the mechanism through a slot in the bayonet washer and into engagement with the plunger, the washer is automatically released from the open position and rotates under the biassing force of the torsion spring to the closed position whereupon the operating member is locked into the power tool.
