A pull-push switch has one or two stationary contacts and one U-shaped elastic movable contact with two legs which, when not deformed, are adapted to resiliently make into contact with the stationary contacts. A cam is securely mounted on an operating shaft which can be axially shifted between the pulled and pushed positions. The cam has a small-diameter cylindrical portion contiguous with a tapered intermediate portion which in turn is contiguous also with a large-diameter cylindrical portion. The legs of the elastic movable contact are so positioned that they are normally maintained in contact with the peripheral surface of the cam as it is shifted in unison with the operating shaft so that when the shaft is pushed or pulled, the legs of the elastic movable contact rest on the small-diameter cylindrical portion of the cam and subsequently make contact with the stationary contacts, whereby the switch is closed. When the operating shaft is pulled or pushed, the legs of the elastic movable contact ride on the large-diameter cylindrical portion of the cam so that they are forced to bend outward or moved away from each other and from the stationary contacts and consequently the switch is opened.

Pull-push switch

A variable resistor device with a lock mechanism in which a push on the operating rod thereof causes it to be locked in its inserted state and another push causes it to restore to its original position. According to the present invention, even if a plurality of such devices are mounted on one operating panel with the operating rods crowdedly projecting, there is substantially no possibility that the user inadvertently manipulates two or three adjacent rods at a time. Further the push stroke of the operating rod can be optionally set with ease, and even if the push stroke is set large, the overall length of the device can be made small.

A rotary variable resistor comprising an insulation substrate having a partial-ring form resistor layer on the surface thereof, an operational shaft rotatably supported at a central portion of the insulation substrate, a brush supporter of a rotational body disposed substantially at one tip of the operational shaft and holding a brush rotatably sliding on the resistor layer, and a cover case of an insulation mold material covering the brush and the brush supporter, the improvement is that the rotational movement of the operational shaft is effectively stopped by a protrusion disposed on the inner wall of a thick part of a plastic mold cover case and on the side of lead terminals.

Rotary variable resistor

A push-lock switch unit and assembly therefor. The push-lock switch unit utilizes an expanding spring extended between a housing of the switch unit and a movable member which reciprocally moves in the housing. The spring is biased diagonally in relation to the axial direction of the reciprocal movement so that the pushing force applied to the movable member to be pushed into the housing decreases as the movable member moves into the housing, thus enabling the operator to depress the switch with minimum force.

An interlocked push-lock push-button switch assembly of the type in which when one of the switch buttons each formed integral with an operating-bridging member is depressed, it is locked in pushed-down position so that the movable contacts are made into contact with the mating stationary contacts, but when another switch button is depressed, the switch which has been locked in position is released. An inverted U-shaped movable contact member with the movable contacts attached to the ends thereof is retained in position by a movable-contact-member retaining member formed integral with the operating-bridging member.

An electronic component of this invention having a fine adjustment mechanism is applicable to a variable resistor, variable capacitor or the like which requires fine adjustment. In this electronic component; a drive shaft having an eccentric cam formed thereon is provided. A ring-shaped intermediate reduction member having a power transmitting portion formed on its outer periphery is fitted into the eccentric cam of the drive shaft. The intermediate reduction member is constructed so that it cannot be rotated but is allowed to make an eccentric movement. A reduction rotating member is provided which has a power transmitting portion formed on its inner periphery, linked to a portion of the power transmitting portion of the intermediate reduction member and has a diameter different than that of the intermediate reduction member. An actuating member of the electronic component is coupled to the reduction rotating member. This electronic component can be provided which is small in size, requires a small number of parts and can provide a large reduction ratio and smooth operation despite use of gears while eliminating backlash.

Electronic component having a fine adjustment mechanism

The present invention discloses a mechanical pushbutton type pulse generating switch for use in a telephone set comprising, in general, pulse generating switch units, a push-break return-make switch unit, and an end pulse generating switch unit. The pulse generating switch unit has a common normally closed contact attached to one side surface of an operating or push-button shaft having a polygonal cross sectional configuration and a plurality of make-break contact groups attached to the remaining side surfaces of the operating shaft and brushes or wipers disposed in opposed relation with and for contact with the common and make-break contacts respectively. The push-break return-make switch unit circuit is connected in series to a parallel circuit consisting of the pulse generating switch unit circuit and the end pulse generating switch unit circuit. The push-break return-make switch unit is so arranged that the number pulses may be generated only in the return stroke of the operating shaft after the latter has been completely depressed, and the end pulse is generated immediately before the operating shaft is returned to its initial or inoperative position and immediately before the push-break return-make switch unit is opened.

Herein disclosed is a variable resistor device which may be used as a tuner in an electric appliance such as a television receiver and a stereophonograph, which resistor device comprises a support member having a base wall portion and at least one end wall portion perpendicular to the base wall portion, an elongate resistance element on the inner face of the base wall portion, a control shaft rotatable on the end wall portion and having a threaded axial portion extending over the resistance element, a slider having a contact portion elastically forced against the resistance element and an edge portion in mating engagement with the threaded axial portion of the control shaft for providing electrical connection between the resistance element and the shaft, and an electrically conductive retainer for holding the control shaft in position relative to the support member while permitting the control shaft to rotate about its axis. Features of the device include ease of assemblage and reliability of operation.

A variable resistor provided with a mechanism which permits the tap resistance to be varied non-linearly; that is, the mechanism permits a contactor to be displaced at a varying rate in response to the operation of input means at a constant rate.

There is provided a combined variable resistor assembly provided with position indicator means for indicating positions of individual variable resistors by respective bright spots adapted to be moved by manipulating the associated variable resistors. This variable resistor assembly may find use mainly for electronic tuners, and with which the present states of the individual variable resistors for volume control, balance control, sound quality control and so forth can be known at a glance at the indicator means.

A bearing having a spherical bearing surface is attached to an opening formed at the center of the top wall of a casing. The bearing rotatably receives a spherical body having a control shaft which extends through the center of the spherical body and is securely fixed thereto. A plurality of rotary discs is spaced from, and juxtaposed on, the bottom wall of the casing. Each of the juxtaposed pairs of the rotary discs is rotatably coupled to one end of an elongated slidable member having an elongated guide slot in such a manner that the elongated member is moved transversely to the longitudinal axis thereof. Circular resistive elements are arranged on the bottom wall of the casing in opposed relation to the rotary discs. Each of the rotary discs has on its lower surface a contactor in slidable electrical contact with the corresponding resistive element. The lower end of the control shaft slidably extends through the guide slots of the elongated members which cross each other, but do not interfere with each other. An upright side member may be provided at each end of the elongated member to produce the effect of inertia for smooth movement of the elongated members. As the control shaft is rotated or inclined in any direction, the point of contact on each of two or four resistive elements may be simultaneously controlled.

An assembly for fine adjustment of a variable impedance mechanism is disclosed wherein a first disk-shaped rotary member, which functions as a knob, has a spiral ridge or groove formed on one side surface thereof for engagement with the teeth of a second disk-shaped rotary member or teethed wheel whose shaft is in turn coupled to the rotary shaft of a variable impedance element. When the first rotary member makes one rotation, the second rotary member is advanced one tooth, whereupon the fine adjustment of the variable impedance element is possible.

A first pair of variable resistors are mounted on two opposite walls of a substantially rectangular outer casing in such manner that their rotary shafts coaxially extend through the walls and are attached to two opposite walls of a substantially rectangular inner casing. A second pair of variable resistors are mounted on two opposite walls of the inner casing in such manner that the rotary shafts are coaxial and that the axis of the shafts of the second pair of resistors is perpendicular to the axis of the shafts of the first pair of resistors. A connecting member links the shafts of the second pair of variable resistors. An operating shaft is rotatably mounted on and extends through the connecting member at right angles to the shafts of the first and second variable resistors and has a plurality of ganged additional variable resistors mounted on it, so that rotation of the operating shaft controls the additional variable resistors, while tilting of the operating shaft selectively controls the first and second pairs of resistors.
