An arrangement for cleaning gas includes a centrifugal separator and pre-separation unit. The centrifugal separator includes a stationary casing, enclosing a separation space through which a gas flow is permitted, a gas inlet extending through the stationary casing and permitting supply of the gas from the pre-separation unit, a rotating stack of separation disks, a gas outlet and a drainage outlet for discharging separated liquid impurities. The pre-separation unit is arranged upstream of said inlet of said centrifugal separator, and it comprises a pre-separation inlet having a cross-sectional area Aand permitting supply of the gas to be cleaned. Ais larger than the cross-sectional area Aof the inlet to the separation space of the centrifugal separator. A pre-separation outlet permits supply of gas from the pre-separation unit to the gas inlet of the centrifugal separator. A first chamber and a second chamber arranged downstream thereof are separated by at least one intermediate wall including at least one through-hole.

Separator arrangement for cleaning gas

A centrifugal separator is configured for cleaning of crankcase gases from an internal combustion engine. The centrifugal separator includes a rotor rotatably arranged inside a stationary housing. The stationary housing includes an inlet for crankcase gases, a gas outlet, and a liquid outlet. The rotor includes a stack of separation discs, each separation disc of the stack of separation discs having a center axis, an inner surface, and an outer surface. A circumferential inner end surface extends between the inner surface and the outer surface. The circumferential inner end surface of at least one separation disc of the stack of separation discs includes a substantially flat first surface portion extending at an angle of at least 20 degrees to the center axis.

A centrifugal separator for cleaning a gas containing liquid impurities includes a stationary casing including a surrounding sidewall, a first end wall and a second end wall which enclose a space through which a gas flow is permitted. The space includes an upper separation chamber and a lower discharge chamber. The separator further includes an inlet extending through the stationary casing and permitting supply of the gas to be cleaned to the separation chamber, a rotating member including a stack of separation discs and being arranged to rotate around an axis of rotation, wherein the stack of separation discs is arranged in the separation chamber and a drive member for rotating the rotating member. The discharge chamber is arranged axially below the stack of separation discs such that clean gas and separated liquid impurities both enter said discharge chamber after being separated in said stack of separation discs, and further, the separator includes a gas outlet configured to permit discharge of cleaned gas from said stationary casing, wherein the gas outlet includes an outlet opening through the stationary casing and a portion extending from the outlet opening into the discharge chamber. Further, there is a drainage outlet arranged in said discharge chamber and configured to permit discharge of separated liquid impurities from said stationary casing.

Centrifugal separator for cleaning gas

A centrifugal separator for cleaning crankcase gas, containing oil, from an internal combustion engine, includes a stationary casing defining a separation space and including a first end portion, an opposite second end portion and an inner wall surface facing the separation space. The separator also includes an inlet channel for the gas to be cleaned, a gas outlet channel for the cleaned gas and an oil outlet for the separated the oil. A centrifuge rotor is provided in the separation space and includes a spindle and a plurality of separation discs carried by the spindle. The centrifuge rotor is rotated to create a rotating gas volume. An oil supply device supplies such a quantity of oil to the separation space that a flowing oil film is created on the inner wall surface during operation of the centrifugal separator.

The invention relates to an apparatus () for purifying gas while bleeding a crank housing, said apparatus () comprising a housing () inside which a separator chamber () is provided, a rotor arrangement with a rotor shaft () that is rotatably mounted in the housing and a centrifugal rotor () located in the separator chamber (), and a fluid driving device () for driving the rotor shaft () by means of a driving fluid, the driving device () being disposed in a driving chamber () that is separated from the separator chamber () by means of a housing partition (), and the rotor shaft () extending through a breakthrough in the housing partition (). In the case of this device, it is provided that a labyrinth-type seal () is provided in the zone of the breakthrough in order to seal the driving chamber () from the separator chamber ().

Apparatus for the purification of gas while bleeding a crank housing

In a vehicle air is compressed for being used in the brake system of the vehicle, for instance. In the compressor, used for the compression, the air is contaminated with oil and solid particles. In order to be relieved from these particles, before the air is conveyed through a drying filter, the compressed is brought to rotation by means of a rotating member in a centrifugal separator. The rotating member may advantageously include a pile of conical separation discs forming flow passages between each other for the compressed air to be cleaned. By means of an efficient cleaning of the compressed air from particles the life time of the drying filter may be increased.
