A plate heat exchanger for solar heating includes a plurality of channels extending between an inlet and an outlet for conducting a heat transferring fluid. The plurality of channels is defined between a first plate and a second plate, the first and second plates being formed by stainless steel. Each of the plurality of channels has a single-curved extension between the inlet and the outlet as seen in a plane corresponding to the major surface extension of the first and second plates. Each of the plurality of channels has along at least a portion of its longitudinal extension a triangular or a chamfered triangular cross-section or a parallelogram or a chamfered parallelogram cross-section. The side walls of two adjacent channels define an angle &#x3b1; corresponding to, or smaller than, 100 degrees and more preferred smaller than 90 degrees.

The device concerns among other things a plate heat exchanger having at least one pile of plate elements, each of which plate elements has a central heat transferring part and an edge part () surrounding this part, the heat transferring parts of the plate elements delimiting flow spaces between one another for at least one heat exchanging fluid (F) and every plate element being of a double wall construction and having two heat transferring plates () with a space therebetween. At least one layer element () is present in the space between the heat transferring plates () in at least one of the plate elements, every layer element () having at least one electrical connected resistive layer making electrical heating of the layer element () possible.

Corrugated heat exchanger plates ( ) of a plate heat exchanger have outer edges of a similar design. A first set of the heat exchanger plates are brazed together in their outer edges and around at least two port holes, as well as, preferably, at all of the points upon the heat exchanger plates where the corrugations bear on each other. Another set of heat exchanger plates are brazed together in their outer edges and around at least two port holes only.
