A tape-like dry fibrous reinforcement, the 'Gapped UD reinforcement tape', providing channels or flow-paths created by inclusion of a layer of separated fiber tows held by at least one adhesive layer. Hereby, quicker wetting of fibers with matrix is obtained, whereby improved composite materials can be economically produced. A method and apparatus for producing the Gapped UD tapes are also disclosed.

Tape-like dry fibrous reinforcement

A novel woven fabric is provided wherein preferably two unidirectional mutually offset and at least partly overlapping layers of tape-like warps interlace with tape-like wefts, at least some being fibrous tapes, that are incorporated individually in either non-overlapping manner or in a mutually offset and overlapping manner relative to other weft tapes. Such a woven fabric is without see-through gaps at the areas/sites encircled by intersecting tape-like warps and wefts, and also delamination resistant. It is particularly suitable for composite material, ballistic mitigation, and similar applications.

A personal protection arrangement in a vehicle includes a gas generator for fluid communication with a reservoir and a control unit. The control unit is arranged to activate the gas generator upon fulfillment of at least one predetermined criterion such that gas is released by the gas generator into the reservoir and the pressure in the reservoir is increased. The gas generator comprises at least one electrochemical cell which is arranged to generate gas when the electrical status of the electrochemical cell is changed from a first state to a second state by a state-changing action.

Device for creating gas inflating an airbag

A gas generator for an airbag includes a storage container and at least one chamber defined by the storage container. The at least one chamber infludes a metal wall and contains at least gaseous hydrogen. A coating layer of iron oxide is disposed on at least a surface portion of the metal wall to prevent diffusion of hydrogen atoms through the metal wall.

A vehicle air-bag inflator includes a container initially containing a pressurized gas and having a vent opening in a wall thereof. A rupturable element, attached to a container wall, covers the vent opening, sealing the interior of the container. The rupturable element is attached to a first support, which supports a region of the rupturable element and prevents the rupturable element from rupturing. A first support, attached to a container wall, is movable between a first and a second configuration, with respect to the container wall. In an initial configuration, a second support supports the first support and prevents the first support from moving from a first configuration to a second configuration. In a final configuration, a second support allows the first support to move from the first configuration to the second configuration. An activation mechanism moves the second support from an initial configuration to a final configuration when triggered.

A gas generator for a protective airbag includes at least one pressurized gas chamber, a first actuator arranged so as to open the pressurized gas chamber, and a diffusion chamber including at least one diffusion hole defining a communication surface. Outside the diffusion chamber, the gas generator includes an obturator having a second actuator. The obturator is arranged in a first position in which it defines a first diffusion surface. The second actuator is arranged so as to allow it to go into a second position in which it defines a second diffusion surface.

Adaptive gas generator for airbag

An inflator for an air-bag comprises a single gas bottle () containing the pressurised gas. The pressurised gas is a mixture including at least one oxidisable gas and at least one oxidising gas. The inflator incorporates a mechanism () to open the gas bottle to enable gas to flow from the gas bottle to the interior of an air-bag (). There is an initiating device () within the air-bag in the form of a spark generator which generates a spark across electrodes () to ignite the mixture of gas from the gas bottle.
