A method and apparatus according to the present invention addresses and/or prevents lost protocol synchronization in HARQ systems caused by ACK/NACK errors. One embodiment detects lost synchronization errors for NDI-based retransmission protocols and restores synchronization by sending an explicit RESET message. In response to the RESET message, the transmitter aborts the transmission of a current PDU and transmits a new PDU and corresponding NDI. Another embodiment prevents protocol synchronization errors by sending scheduling grants on a packet by packet basis. The receiver sends a subsequent explicit scheduling grant to the transmitter based on an error evaluation of a received PDU. The transmitter will not send the next PDU unless it receives the subsequent explicit scheduling grant.

The invention relates to a method for authenticating a device, comprising a network communication unit and tagging circuit, in a mobile communication network, using a mobile entity comprising a tagging circuit and being authenticated to the mobile communication network. The method comprises the following steps; the mobile entity establishing a connection with the device, using said tagging circuit, exchanging authentication data between the mobile entity and the device using the tagging circuit and authenticating the device to the mobile communication network by submission of exchanged authentication data in the mobile communication network. Thereby, the permissions of a mobile entity may be shared with another device by tagging. The invention also relates to a corresponding mobile entity, device, node and computer program product.

A user equipment unit () and a base station node () which is configured for operation with a synchronous HARQ protocol and with capability of sending data on an E-DCH channel either (1) in a nominal mode in single transmission time intervals of a predetermined length, or (2) in an extended mode in a pseudo transmission time interval. The pseudo transmission time interval comprises a first transmission time interval in which the data is transmitted and a second transmission time interval in which the data is re-transmitted.
