A multipoint conference unit includes input/output ports to communicate with at least three client terminals via at least three communication channels with each communication channel communicating with one of the at least three client terminals, a memory to store data streams communicated between multipoint conference unit and the client terminals, and a processor to mix data streams received from the client terminals and to store the mixed data streams in the memory. The processor also determines a number of each of three different types of communication channels and selectively implements bandwidth extension to the communication channels based on the determination.

Bandwidth extension in a multipoint conference unit

A communication device and method provide selective control of a level of buffering of at least one data stream. The communication device includes a jitter buffer (), a jitter buffer control unit () and a user interface (). An instruction received via an input to a user interface () indicates a jitter buffer strategy (), such as enabling a jitter buffer or setting a size of a jitter buffer, based on the user input. The control unit () sets the buffer strategy based in the instruction, and a data stream transmitted via a packet-switched network is received () and buffered for play out based on the buffer strategy ().

Method for manually optimizing jitter, delay and synch levels in audio-video transmission

An apparatus () and method () provides an adaptive end-to-end (E2E) delay threshold (DT) for one-way transmission of information blocks in an information stream of a conversation. Information streams of the conversation are monitored (), and the E2E DT duration is determined based on detected occurrences of one or more interactive propertiesassociated with the information streams of the conversation (). Using the adaptive E2E DT duration value, a determination is made as to whether to perform at least one Quality of Service (QoS) function ().

Conversational interactivity measurement and estimation for real-time media

The invention relates to a method, computer, computer program and computer program product for speech quality estimation. The method comprises the steps of: determining a coding distortion parameter (Q), a bandwidth related distortion parameter (BW) and a presentation level distortion parameter (PL) of a speech signal; extracting a first coefficient (&#x3c9;) and a second coefficient (&#x3c9;), the first coefficient and the second coefficient being dependent on the coding distortion parameter; and calculating a signal quality measure (Q), where the signal quality measure is Q+&#x3c9;BW+&#x3c9;PL using the signal quality measure in a quality estimation of the speech signal.
