A wireless device configured to perform a 2-step random access, RA, procedure transmits () a message according to the 2-step RA procedure, the message comprising a first random access preamble. The wireless device receives (), during a RA response window following the transmitting of the message, a Medium Access Control, MAC, subheader. Using one or more bits or fields included in the received subheader, the wireless device determines () that it should take action according to any one of the following: backing off, according to a back-off parameter, for a subsequent RA attempt according to the 2-step RA procedure; falling back to a 4-step RA procedure by transmitting a new RA preamble; and falling back to a 4-step RA procedure after backing off according to a back-off parameter, by transmitting a new random access preamble after the back-off.

Back-off for 2-step RA procedure

A method in a UE comprises: receiving a message from a network node comprising information about one or more sets of dedicated random access channel (RACH) resources, each set of dedicated RACH resources associated with a beam associated with a target cell; obtaining an estimate of beam quality for each beam associated with the sets of dedicated RACH resources; determining, based on the obtained estimate of beam quality, whether any beam associated with the one or more sets of dedicated RACH resources meets one or more criteria of a first set of criteria for performing random access; and performing random access based on whether any beam associated with the one or more sets of dedicated RACH resources meets the one or more criteria of the first set of criteria for performing random access.

A user equipment starts a first timer and a second timer in response to different respective network events. The starting of the first and second timers causes the first and second timers to simultaneously elapse. Embodiments include methods, performed by a user equipment (UE), for hybrid ARQ (HARQ) feedback in relation to multicast transmissions from a network node in a radio access network (RAN). Such methods include receiving, from the network node, first downlink control information (DCI) scheduling a first multicast transmission associated with the UE and determining a HARQ feedback mode for the first multicast transmission. Such methods also include, based on the first DCI, attempting to decode the first multicast transmission; and selectively transmitting HARQ feedback related to the first multicast transmission to the network node based on the determined HARQ feedback mode and on whether the attempt to decode is successful or unsuccessful. Embodiments also include complementary methods for a network node, as well as UEs and network nodes configured to perform such methods.

Hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) mechanism for multicast in NR

In one aspect, a method performed by a wireless device for obtaining information about Physical Uplink Control Channel (PUCCH) resources is provided. The method includes receiving a Medium Access Control (MAC) Control Element (CE) from a network, wherein the MAC CE contains respective spatial relation information relating to PUCCH resources configured for at least one specific bandwidth part. In a further aspect, a wireless device for obtaining information about PUCCH resources is provided. The wireless device includes power supply circuitry configured to supply power to the wireless device and processing circuitry configured to cause the wireless device to receive a MAC CE from a network, wherein the MAC CE contains respective spatial relation information relating to PUCCH resources configured for at least one specific bandwidth part.

According to some embodiments, a method of operating a network node is provided. A first information element IE is provided including an indication of an added synchronization signal block/physical cell identity SSB/PCI. The indication of the added SSB/PCI indicates an SSB and associated PCI that are associated with a radio link. A second IE is provided including the indication of the added SSB/PCI. The second IE relates to at least one of channel state information CSI, radio link monitoring, uplink power control, and/or uplink spatial relations. A control message including the first IE and the second IE is transmitted to a user equipment UE, to enable the UE to perform a radio link monitoring function on the radio link.

Methods of configuring SSB/PCI for use by a UE and related user equipment and network nodes

A network node () and a method for transmitting uplink grants to a communications device (), wherein the communications device operates in a service area () served by the network node. The network node determines, based on a load measure on a Physical Random Access Channel, PRACH, between the network node and the communications device in relation to a load threshold, a number of uplink grants that are to be associated with a Random Access Preamble Identity, RAPID, of a PRACH preamble transmission received from the communications device. Further, the network node indicates the determined number to the communications device; and transmits the determined number of uplink grants to the communications device.

A terminal device for a wireless communication network is configurable with a plurality of transmission time intervals. An example method comprises: receiving a grant message comprising an indication of radio resources in which the terminal device can transmit one or more wireless messages, the radio resources being configured according to a first transmission time interval of the plurality of transmission time intervals; determining the presence of data to transmit, the data being associated with a logical channel; determining a maximum transmission time interval associated with the logical channel; and, responsive to a determination that the maximum transmission time interval associated with the logical channel is less than the first transmission time interval, transmitting a scheduling request message. The scheduling request message is configured according to a second transmission time interval of the plurality of transmission time intervals, shorter than the first.

A method performed by a wireless device is described herein. The wireless device operates in a wireless communications network. The wireless device provides a message to be sent to a network node operating in the wireless communications network. The message is a first scheduled message to be sent to the network node in a random access procedure. The message comprises a first indicator of a type of the message. The type of message has: a) a fixed size SDU, and b) a one byte header comprising the first indicator and lacking a second indicator of a length of a payload. The wireless device also initiates sending the provided message to the network node. Also described is a method performed by the network node receiving and initiating processing the message, based on the first indicator.
