In the connector fitting structure of the invention, a male connector includes lock arms each having a housing lock formed at a distal end thereof, first engagement portions formed on an inner surface of an outer housing and a second engagement portion formed on the outer housing and disposed below the lock arms The housing locks are engageable with engagement projections respectively, and a pressing portion is formed on an upper surface of the lock arms First and second slide members and holding compression springs therebetween, are mounted within the outer housing so as to slide in a fitting direction. The second slide member includes first engagement arms for engagement respectively with the first engagement portions a second engagement arm for engagement with the second engagement portion and retaining portions for respectively locking the lock arms after the fitting operation is effected. The first slide member has a slide groove for allowing the first engagement arms to escape thereinto.
