A biometric sensor may include a scanner configured to capture a biometric data and an adjustment mechanism configured to respond to a force applied to the biometric sensor by shifting the biometric sensor from a neutral position to an adjusted position. The adjustment mechanism may be configured to respond to the removal of the force by returning the biometric sensor to the neutral position. While the biometric sensor is in the neutral position, the scanner may be capable of capturing a biometric data of a majority of users interacting with the apparatus. Accordingly, the biometric sensor may be able to operate with minimal adjustments. The biometric sensor may be part of a dispensing cabinet such that the biometric data captured by the biometric sensor may be used to control access to the dispensing cabinet. Related methods are also disclosed.

A scanning apparatus that can include (a) a scan actuator including a linear actuator and a mount for a removeable vessel, wherein the mount has a mechanical fastener that is configured to engage a complementary mechanical fastener on the removeable vessel, and wherein the linear actuator is configured to translate the mount while the mechanical fastener engages the complementary mechanical fastener on the removeable vessel; (b) a reference surface; and (c) a preload configured to urge the vessel to contact the reference surface, wherein the linear actuator is configured to slide the vessel along the reference surface while the preload urges the vessel to contact the reference surface.

Scanning apparatus and methods for detecting chemical and biological analytes

Some examples include a grounding system for an image forming apparatus. The grounding system includes a lifting plate having a top surface for storing media and an interface, a cable having a first end and an opposing second end, the first end attached at the interface, a retainer attached to the lifting plate at the interface, the retainer releasably securing the cable to the lifting plate, and a winding spool coupled to the second end of the cable, the winding spool to transfer torque to the cable and to accommodate a length of cable wound around the winding spool. Each of the lifting plate, the cable, and the winding spool are electrically conductive to release electrostatic energy from the media.

Some examples include a media level state indicator of an image forming apparatus. The media level state indicator including a gear assembly of interconnected gears including a first gear, a second gear, and a cam fixedly disposed on the first gear, the second gear coupled to a media lift system and rotatable with a shaft of the media lift system, the first gear and the cam rotatably coupled to the second gear, a cam follower to selectively contact the cam, the cam follower moveable in response to contacting rotational movement of the cam, and a signal device coupled to the cam follower, the signal device having a first media level state and a second media level state, the signal device to move between the first media level state and the second media level state as the media lift system changes a position of a lift plate.

A rotary wiper assembly for a fluid-ejection printhead that has fluid-ejection nozzles includes one or more wipers and a rotatable shaft to which the wipers are at least indirectly attached. The rotatable shaft is to rotate the wipers to a static wiping position. While the wipers are stationary in the static wiping position, the fluid-ejection printhead is to move back and forth in relation to the wipers while the wipers are not to move, to cause the wipers to come into contact with the fluid-ejection nozzles to wipe material from the fluid-ejection nozzles.
