A web-based application constructor can be used to construct a web display. A specification, for constructing a web display to contain page components that display data from heterogeneous data sources, may be created. The page components may be associated with uniform resource locators. Data from heterogeneous data sources may be retrieved to produce the web display. Display and update of the page components may be controlled using the uniform resource locators. User-selectable options may allow annotation of the page components for a page with comments.

This disclosure relates to adaptive content control and display for internet media. A playback component provides for playback of media content. An input component detects user inputs during playback of the content. In response to the user inputs being detected, a menu component displays a level of a pivot menu during playback of the content. The pivot menu is displayed on top, or in front, of a portion of the content during playback, and the pivot menu can be at least partially transparent to enable consumption of the content to continue without complete obstruction.

A system and method for mapping changes between a browser history stack and a browser page state using one or more tokens. The system comprises an updater module, a parsing module, a mapping module and an execution module. The updater module receives a navigation request from the user and updates a browser history stack based at least in part on the navigation request The parsing module receives a token associated with an entry at the top of the browser history stack and parsing the token into one or more dynamic segments. The mapping module receives the one or more dynamic segments and generates a map based at least in part on the one or more dynamic segments. The execution module receives the map and executing code based at least in part on the map.

A versioning system can keep track of changes to page components, page layout, searches, and text to allow users to make changes without administrative approval.

A system and method for managing video data and metadata associated with the video data is disclosed. In one embodiment, a content management system receives video data and metadata associated with the video data, such as a title, a thumbnail image and a subject matter identifier. Instructions for a media player used to present the video data using a destination site are also generated to simplify distribution of the video data to one or more destination sites. The content management system further enables a user to edit the stored video data to customize placements of advertisements or other data within the video data by identifying one or more cue points in the video data. A data store is coupled to the content management system to store the video data and the metadata associated with the video data.

Metadata associated with video data by a content management system is transmitted to one or more advertising servers to tailor advertisements, or other data, presented in addition to the video data. In one embodiment, a user specifies the metadata associated with the video data, and the management system communicates the metadata to one or more advertising servers. Responsive to a user changing a subset of the metadata using the content management system, the changed subset of the metadata is communicated to the one or more advertising servers, which modify advertisements associated with the video data responsive to the changed metadata. Hence, changes to metadata associated with video data are pushed from the management system to an advertising server, allowing the advertising server to more quickly modify the advertisements associated with the video data.
