Disclosed a wind turbine blade comprising a main laminate and a method for manufacturing a main laminate for a wind turbine blade. The wind turbine blade extends in a longitudinal direction from a root to a tip and comprising a pressure side, a suction side and a chord line extending between a leading edge and a trailing edge. Particularly, lightning protection of such main laminate is disclosed.

Disclosed is a wind turbine blade comprising a first blade section extending along a longitudinal axis from a root end to a first end and a second blade section extending along the longitudinal axis from a second end to a tip end. The wind turbine blade comprising a spar beam configured for connecting the first blade section and the second blade section. The first blade section comprises a first down conductor and the second blade section comprises a second down conductor. The wind turbine blade comprises a conductive connector element for electrically connecting the first down conductor and the second down conductor.

The wind turbine blade comprises a first down conductor for conducting lightning current to ground. The blade further comprises one or more lightning receptors at or in proximity of an external surface of the wind turbine blade. A smallest distance from a first lightning receptor of the one or more lightning receptors to an interface between the first blade section and the second blade section may be less than or equal to a chord length of a chord of the wind turbine blade at the interface between the first blade section and the second blade section.

Lightning protection of a sectioned wind turbine blade

Disclosed is wind turbine blade and a spar beam for structurally connecting a first blade section and a second blade section of a wind turbine blade. The spar beam comprises a first fibre reinforced element extending parallel to a spar beam axis. The spar beam comprising a conductive beam sheath circumscribing at least a beam sheath angular distance of the spar beam about the spar beam axis and longitudinally extending from a fourth beam axis position to a fifth beam axis position. The first fibre reinforced element is positioned between the conductive beam sheath and the spar beam axis.

A jointed wind turbine rotor blade includes a first blade segment and a second blade segment extending in opposite directions from a chord-wise joint. A beam structure extends span-wise from the first blade segment into a receiving section formed in the second blade segment. The receiving section includes opposite spar caps and opposite interconnecting webs. The spar caps have a constant thickness along the receiving section where the spar caps overlap with the beam structure and are formed of a material or combination of materials along the receiving section to produce a desired stiffness of the spar caps along the receiving section. The webs have a reduced amount of conductive material adjacent to a chord-wise joint between the blade segments.
