An off-road vehicle has: a frame including a rollover protection structure; two front wheels operatively connected to the frame; two rear wheels operatively connected to the frame; at least one seat supported by the frame; an internal combustion engine supported by the frame, being disposed rearward of the at least one seat, and being operatively connected at least one of: the two rear wheels, and the two front wheels; an engine air intake system fluidly connected to the engine for supplying air to the engine; and an air intake conduit having a conduit inlet and a conduit outlet, the conduit outlet being fluidly connected to the engine air intake system for supplying air to the engine air intake system, the conduit inlet being disposed at least in part vertically higher than the rollover protection structure.

Off-road vehicle air intake system

An off-road vehicle has: a frame including a rollover protection structure; two front wheels; two rear wheels; at least one seat; an internal combustion engine disposed rearward of the at least one seat, and being operatively connected at least one of: the two rear wheels, and the two front wheels; an engine air intake system fluidly connected to the engine for supplying air to the engine; a heat exchanger supported by the frame for cooling a vehicle fluid; a plenum defined at least in part by the heat exchanger, the plenum being disposed rearward of the at least one seat, an inlet of the engine air intake system being disposed in the plenum for supplying air from the plenum to the engine, and air from the plenum flowing over the heat exchanger for cooling the vehicle fluid; and a plenum air intake for supplying air to the plenum.

A filter housing has a first aperture, a tube connected to and extending from the first aperture, at least one second aperture, and at least one filter connected to the at least one second aperture for filtering air entering the at least one second aperture. A portion of air entering the filter housing flows out of the filter housing via the first aperture and through the tube. Another portion of air entering the filter housing flows out of the filter housing via the at least one second aperture around the tube separately from the portion of air flowing out of the filter housing via the first aperture.

Air intake system for an off-road vehicle

A vehicle has a frame, at least one ground engaging member, an internal combustion engine, a continuously variable transmission (CVT) and an air intake assembly. The CVT 5 has a CVT housing. The air intake assembly has at least one air intake assembly inlet, at least one first air intake assembly aperture and at least one second air intake assembly aperture. The at least one first air intake assembly aperture fluidly communicates with at least one air intake port of the engine. The at least one second air intake assembly aperture fluidly communicates with an interior of the CVT housing.

A vehicle has a frame; a seat connected to the frame, the seat having a seat bottom, a seat back and a headrest; at least one ground engaging member operatively connected to the frame; an internal combustion engine connected to the frame, the internal combustion engine being operatively connected to at least one of the at least one ground engaging member; and an air intake assembly having at least one air intake assembly inlet and at least one air intake assembly aperture. The at least one air intake assembly aperture fluidly communicates with at least one air intake port of the engine. The at least one air intake assembly inlet is disposed rearward of the headrest and is at least partially aligned laterally and vertically with the headrest.

A watercraft includes a deck and a hull having a transom, right and left side portions a tunnel, and a bottom portion. An air intake system disposed in the engine compartment and fluidly communicating with an engine includes an air compressor and an intercooler. The intercooler includes a housing having a lower surface extending generally along the bottom hull portion, an upper surface extending thereabove, an intercooler air inlet, an intercooler air outlet spaced from the intercooler air inlet at least in a direction parallel to the lower surface, a water inlet, and a water outlet. An intercooler core enclosed within the housing defines at least one air channel fluidly communicating with the intercooler air inlet and the intercooler air outlet. At least one water channel fluidly communicating with the water inlet and outlet is diathermally connected with the at least one air channel for cooling air flowing therein.

Intercooler for a watercraft

A vehicle has a frame, at least one ground engaging member, an internal combustion engine, a turbocharger fluidly connected to an air intake port of the engine, and a continuously variable transmission (CVT). The CVT has a CVT housing defining at least one CVT inlet for fluidly communicating an interior of the CVT housing with an atmosphere, a primary pulley housed in the CVT housing and operatively connected to the engine, a secondary pulley housed in the CVT housing and operatively connected to at least one of the at least one ground engaging member, a belt looped around the primary and secondary pulleys, and a CVT outlet conduit having an outlet portion. The outlet portion is oriented to generate a cooling air flow cooling at least one of: at least a portion of the turbocharger; and at least a portion of a component of the vehicle.

A personal watercraft has a hull and sub-deck (HSD) assembly, a deck above the sub-deck, and a suspension member pivotally connected therebetween. A suspension element, including a spring assembly, is connected between any two of the deck, the HSD assembly, and the suspension member. The spring assembly has first and second portions having first and second spring rates respectively. The second spring rate is greater than the first. A controller controls a lifting device to set an initial distance between the deck and the sub-deck to one of a first distance and a second distance greater than the first. The suspension element moves through a majority of a full stroke with the first portion of the spring assembly at least partially expanded when the initial distance is the first distance, and with the first portion of the spring assembly fully compressed when the initial distance is the second distance.

Personal watercraft having an adjustable suspension

A personal watercraft has a hull and sub-deck (HSD) assembly. A deck is disposed above the sub-deck. A first suspension member has a first end pivotally connected to the deck and a second end disposed rearwardly and downwardly of the first end pivotally connected to the HSD assembly. A second suspension member, disposed rearwardly of the first suspension member, has a first end pivotally connected to the deck and a second end disposed rearwardly and downwardly of the first end pivotally connected to the HSD assembly. The first and second suspension members each have a fixed length. A suspension element is connected between any two of: the deck, the HSD assembly, and one of the suspension members. The HSD assembly is moveable relative to the deck between a first position and a second position that is upward and rearward of the first position. A watercraft suspension geometry is also disclosed.

Personal watercraft having a suspension system

A personal watercraft is disclosed, having a hull and sub-deck (HSD) assembly with left and right gunnels. A deck is disposed above the sub-deck. The left and right lateral edges of the deck are disposed vertically at least as low as the upper end of the left and right gunnels. The left lateral edge and the left gunnel define a left gap therebetween. The right lateral edge and the right gunnel define a right gap therebetween. A left seal member extends laterally outwardly from the left lateral edge. The left seal member extends into the left gap generally toward the left gunnel. A right seal member extends laterally outwardly from the right lateral edge. The right seal member extends into the right gap generally toward the right gunnel.

Personal watercraft

A personal watercraft has a hull and sub-deck (HSD) assembly. The sub-deck defines at least one first opening therein. A deck is disposed above the sub-deck. A suspension member passes through the at least one first opening and is disposed at least in part inside the HSD assembly. The suspension member has a first end pivotally connected to the deck. The suspension member has a second end pivotally connected to the HSD assembly. The suspension member has a fixed length. A suspension element has a first end connected to one of the deck, the HSD assembly, and the suspension member. The suspension element has a second end connected to another one of the deck, the HSD assembly, and the suspension member.

Personal watercraft suspension arrangement

A personal watercraft is disclosed having a straddle-type seat. The seat is pivotally connected to the deck via a pivotal connection and pivotable with respect to the deck between a raised position and a lowered position. The pivotal connection has first and second links. The seat is pivotally connected to the first and second links and is pivotable with respect thereto about respective first and second axes. The first and second axes are movable with respect to the deck. When the seat is in the raised position, the seat permits access to the engine via an aperture in the deck. When the seat is in the lowered position, the seat covers the aperture in the deck and prevents access to the engine.

Personal watercraft with pivotable seat

A boat has a hull and a deck supported by the hull. The deck has a rearward passenger area. A seat is disposed in the rearward passenger area. A first console is disposed on the deck at a front of the rearward passenger area and forwardly of the seat. The first console has a top. A first windshield is disposed generally transverse to a longitudinal axis of the boat. The first windshield is movable between a first position where the first windshield extends a first distance vertically above the top of the first console and a second position where at least a portion of the first windshield extends a second distance vertically below the top of the first console. When the first windshield is in the second position the at least one portion of the first windshield is in a substantially vertical position.
