A method and an apparatus for automatically feeding printing plates to a rotary printing press include conveying devices spaced apart from each other transversely to a conveying direction for feeding the printing plate to a clamping device having register pins. One of the conveying devices is lifted briefly off the printing plate in the event of a lack of in-register contact while the other conveying device remains in contact with the printing plate and thus ensures a forward drive of the printing plate, while the lifting of one conveying device promotes stress relief in the printing plate. A sheetfed rotary printing press having the apparatus, is also provided.

An apparatus positions a plate cylinder and a blanket cylinder in a transport position for assisting in transporting printing plates. The apparatus spaces the blanket cylinder and plate cylinder apart from one another such that a pressure acting on a printing plate during the printing operation is reduced in the transport position. Optionally, one of the cylinders can be replaced with an inking and/or damping roller.

A printing press contains a distributor roller, an oscillating roller which has a roller axle and a roller barrel, and a switching device for optionally releasing, in a first operating mode, and locking, in a second operating mode, an oscillating movement of the roller barrel. The oscillating movement is driven frictionally by the distributor roller. The switching device is disposed separately from the roller axle and the roller axle is mounted so as to be adjustable relative to the switching device.

A printing machine includes a printing form cylinder, a first roller, a second roller, a third roller, a fourth roller, and a dampener roller. The machine has a defined roller control position, wherein the first roller engages with the dampener roller, the third roller and the fourth roller, the second roller engages with the dampener roller, and the dampener roller engages with the printing form cylinder. In this same roller position, the second roller further engages with the third roller.

A central lubrication system for a rotary printing press with a central supply of lubricant for individual lubricating points and with a line system for feeding an oversupply of lubricant to the individual lubricating points, the excess lubricant being returned and tested for water content and, if water is present, the printing press being shut down, includes a test box connected, upstream of the central supply, in the line system for returning the lubricant, a sensor received in the test box, an inlet for the line system and an outlet formed in the test box so that the lubricant is able to circulate about the sensor in the test box between the inlet and the outlet thereof.

A printing press and a method operating the same. The printing press includes: a frame; a plate cylinder being rotatably mounted on the frame; an inking unit for supplying ink to the plate cylinder. The inking unit comprises: an ink fountain for containing ink; a plurality of inking rollers; means for transferring ink between said ink fountain and said plurality of inking rollers; a plurality of ink applicator rollers for transferring ink between said plurality of inking rollers and said plate cylinder. The printing press further includes a dampening unit for supplying damping medium to said plate cylinder. The dampening unit comprises a form roller having an elastic outer cylindrical surface which can be engaged at the printing plate of a plate cylinder, a driven dampening distributor having a chromium outer cylindrical surface and being assigned to the form roller, and further dampening-unit rollers supplying the form roller with the dampening medium contained in a dampening-medium vessel. The dampening distributor is preferably provided with cups arranged close to each other and preferably featuring each a depth of approximately 20 micrometers, and, preferably, the ridges between the cups: are rounded off; permeate the dampening-medium film and the ink film on the form roller; and, under a certain contact pressure, are in contact with the outer cylindrical surface of the form roller and drive the form roller.
