A control system for an ego-vehicle traveling in a first direction in a first lane on a road segment where the vehicle has a driver support function for autonomously maneuvering the vehicle. The control system includes control circuitry configured to obtain sensor data including information about a surrounding environment of the vehicle. The control circuitry determines a relative velocity of at least one external vehicle traveling in a second lane adjacent to the first lane based on the obtained sensor data. Moreover, the control circuitry is configured to generate a control signal in to control an availability of the driver support function for the road segment based on the comparison in order to make the driver support function available for an occupant of the vehicle if at least one external vehicle of the external vehicle(s) has been confirmed to have a relative velocity below the maximum velocity threshold.

Operational design domain validation coverage for adjacent lane relative velocity

The present disclosure relates to a method for controlling a control system of a vehicle having a first driver support module (e.g. ADAS feature) and a second driver support module (e.g. 'under-development' ADS feature). The first driver support module and the second driver support module are capable of operation within an overlapping operational design domain (ODD). The method includes obtaining sensor data including information about a surrounding environment of the vehicle and determining fulfilment of the overlapping ODD based on the obtained sensor data. Further, if the overlapping ODD is fulfilled, the method includes switching between a first configuration where the first driver support module is active and the second driver support module is inactive, and a second configuration where the first driver support module is inactive and the second driver support module is active.

Method and system for development and verification of autonomous driving features

A system for a lane keeping feature of a vehicle is provided. The lane keeping feature has a predefined safety requirement criterion for keeping the vehicle within bounds while the lane keeping feature is active. The system comprises a road estimation module and a trajectory planning module. The road estimation module is configured to receive sensor data comprising information about a surrounding environment of the vehicle, and to determine a drivable area based on the sensor data. The drivable area comprises a left boundary and a right boundary extending along a direction of travel of the vehicle, wherein each boundary comprises a plurality of points distributed along each boundary, each point being associated with a confidence level. The trajectory planning module is configured to receive the determined drivable area, and to determine a nominal trajectory for the vehicle based on the received drivable area.

Lane keeping for autonomous vehicles

Embodiments herein relate to a method performed by an autonomous vehicle for activating an autonomous braking maneuver of the autonomous vehicle having an autonomous drive system. The autonomous vehicle detects at least one user initiated request for an autonomous braking maneuver of the vehicle when the vehicle is in a first autonomous drive mode at a speed. The autonomous braking maneuver is at least one of: speed reduction or stop. When the request has been detected, the autonomous vehicle activates the autonomous braking maneuver of the vehicle which reduces the speed and/or brakes the vehicle to a stop.

Method and vehicle for activating an autonomous braking maneuver

A safety stoppage device for an autonomous road vehicle having at least one control network and sensor, and an autonomous drive-control unit for processing sensor and communication signals and providing control signals for lateral and longitudinal control. A primary brake-control unit is configured to monitor the longitudinal control signals for faults and, upon determination of a fault, execute a longitudinal control profile, stored independent from the autonomous drive-control unit, to perform braking to a stop. A primary steering-control unit is configured to monitor the lateral control signals for faults and, upon determination of a fault, control a primary steering actuator to follow a lateral control trajectory, stored independent from the autonomous drive-control unit, and, if not already triggered, simultaneously trigger the primary brake-control unit to execute the stored longitudinal control profile to control wheel brakes to perform braking to a stop during execution of the lateral control trajectory.

A vehicle system is arranged for allowing transition from an autonomous driving mode to a second driving mode in a road vehicle having autonomous driving capabilities and including a vehicle compartment, a steering wheel and at least one pedal. The vehicle system includes a control arrangement, a first switch arranged at a first position at the steering wheel, a second switch arranged at a second position within the vehicle compartment, and a first determination arrangement for determining if the at least one pedal is depressed. There is provided a system and a method for determining an in-band noise parameter representative of the optical noise contribution (such as OSNR) on a polarization-multiplexed optical Signal-Under-Test (SUT) comprising two polarized phase-modulated data-carrying contributions and an optical noise contribution. For each of a multiplicity of distinct polarization-analyzer conditions, the SUT is analyzed to provide at least one polarization-analyzed component of the SUT and the polarization-analyzed component is detected with an electronic bandwidth at least ten times smaller than the symbol rate of the SUT to obtain a corresponding acquired electrical signal; for each acquired electrical signal, a value of a statistical parameter is determined from the ac component of the acquired electrical signal, thereby providing a set of statistical-parameter values corresponding to the multiplicity of distinct polarization-analyzer conditions; and, from the set of statistical-parameter values, the in-band noise parameter is mathematically determined.

In-band OSNR measurement on polarization-multiplexed signals

A two-gate sampling system has been designed to perform sampled balanced detection of one or more input signal pairs. The present invention performs simultaneous sampling of both signals in each signal pair followed by digitization and combination of the sample pairs using software. By first sampling the signals and then combining the sampled into the corresponding balanced detected signal it is possible to avoid the bandwidth limitations and impedance problems introduced by traditional balanced detectors and electrical oscilloscopes. In particular, for optical sampling gates very high bandwidth sampling gates can be designed without any impedance issues and hence almost perfect balanced detection reconstruction can be performed for very high speed signals. Balanced detection is becoming more and more important as the new phase modulated optical data signals are introduced to the market, such as e.g. PSK, DPSK, QPSK and DQPSK. The present invention is well suited for analysis of these new types of signals.

Sampling-based balanced detection system

There are provided a method and a system for characterizing the CMRR of an ICR under test, which employ highly coherent light from two continuous-wave (CW) single-frequency lasers whose respective optical frequencies mutually differ by an offset defining an 'Intermediate Frequency' (f) in the rf electrical baseband. The method involves the coherent mixing of light from these two lasers in the ICR under test. A 'tone' in the rf electrical baseband at frequency fis generated by the beating of light from the two single-frequency lasers as they interfere on the photodetectors of the ICR. The resulting tone at frequency fin the output electrical signals of the ICR is then detected and analyzed to characterize the CMRR of the ICR.

Method and system for common-mode-rejection-ratio (CMRR) characterization of an integrated coherent receiver

An optical sampling arrangement for high-speed measurement of the time-varying electric field of an optical input signal utilizes coherent mixing of the optical input signal with a reference laser source in a phase-diverse optical hybrid solution, followed by optical sampling of the coherently-mixed fields at the output of the optical hybrid. The generated streams of optical samples are then detected and signal processed in order to reconstruct a sampled version of the electric field of the original optical input signal.

All-optical, phase sensitive optical signal sampling

An optical sampling arrangement for high-speed measurement of the time-varying electric field of a data-carrying optical input signal. The present invention includes optical sampling of the optical input signal, followed by coherent mixing with a reference laser source in an optical hybrid solution. The generated streams of mixed optical samples are then detected and signal processed in order to reconstruct a sampled version of the electric field of the data-carrying optical input signal.

Optical sampling with coherent detection

An asynchronous sampling arrangement utilizes sampling of both a high speed data signal and a trigger (clock) signal. The data signal may be either an optical signal or an electrical signal. The data and trigger signals are sampled in parallel by two separate gates, the gates based on the same strobe frequency. The samples corresponding to the trigger signal are then processed through an algorithm that determines the time-base related to the sampled signal. This established time-base is then used to reconstruct the sampled version of the high data rate input signal waveform.

Equivalent time asynchronous sampling arrangement

A system and method for providing polarization-independent optical sampling utilizes a differential group delay (DGD) element to split a sampling pulse source (SPS) into orthogonal components by controlling the state of polarization of the SPS at the DGD element input. The orthogonally-polarized sampling pulse components then each interact with the input optical signal waveform in a polarization-dependent sampling gate, creating two samples for each original sampling pulse. The generated samples are converted into the electrical domain by a photodetector with an impulse response time longer than that associated with the DGD element, resulting in a single impulse response representing the combined energy of the two samples that is independent of the state of polarization of the input optical signal waveform.
