A steering column for a motor vehicle may comprise a steering column jacket with a jacket surface having a retaining segment. The retaining segment may at least partially surround a bearing for rotatably mounting a steering spindle about an axis of rotation. The retaining segment may have at least one tab that secures the bearing in the steering column jacket in a direction of the axis of rotation. The tab may be connected to the retaining segment of the steering column jacket along a bending edge. The bending edge may form a projection angle of at maximum 45&#xb0; with a projected axis of rotation. The free end of the tab is bent around the bending edge towards the axis of rotation.

Steering column for a motor vehicle

A steering column for a motor vehicle includes a support unit connectable with the chassis of the motor vehicle, a securement part disposed between the side jaws of the support unit, a setting unit disposed between the side jaws of the support unit; a counter-securement part connected with the setting unit; and a clamping mechanism. The clamping mechanism is operably engaged with the setting unit such that in the opened state of the clamping mechanism the setting unit is displaceable with respect to the support unit at least in a longitudinal direction of the steering column, and in the closed state of the clamping mechanism the setting unit is secured at a set position with respect to the support unit. In the event of a motor vehicle crash, the counter-securement part is shiftable with respect to the setting unit with the consumption of energy.

A steering column for a motor vehicle has an adjustment unit () which bears a section of the steering shaft () and which, in the open state of a locking apparatus (), is pivotable relative to a bracket unit () about a pivot axis () for adjustment of the steering column in an adjustment direction () for a height or tilt adjustment. The pivot axis () is formed by a spindle bolt () which can be mounted so as to be fixed with respect to the vehicle and which extends through a first and a second elongated hole () of the adjustment unit (). In the event of a vehicle crash, the adjustment unit () is displaceable relative to the spindle bolt () with displacement of the spindle bolt () in the elongated holes (), wherein, in a region situated between the first and the second elongated hole () in relation to the direction of the pivot axis (), there is arranged an energy absorption part () with which the spindle bolt (), during the displacement thereof in the elongated holes (), interacts with plastic deformation of the energy absorption part () owing to exertion of pressure on the energy absorption part () and displacement of material of the energy absorption part ().

An adjustable steering column for a motor vehicle has at least two components and at least one locking device. The components can be adjusted in the position thereof relative to each other along an adjustment path in an open position of the locking device and are locked in the position thereof relative to each other in a closed position of the locking device. A stop element is arranged at least a first of the components such that the stop element limits the adjustment path and can be detached from the first of the components when a force value is exceeded. The adjustable steering column has a tool which can be inserted between the stop element and the first of the components in order to detach the stop element.

Adjustable steering column for a motor vehicle

A steering column for a motor vehicle includes a first and a second part, which in the event of a vehicle crash can be displaced relative to each other in a displacement direction. At least one absorption element acts between the two parts for absorbing energy during the mutual displacement of the two parts, and at least one shift unit, which includes a shift component that can be shifted between a passive and an active shift position. The amount of the energy absorbed during the mutual displacement of the two parts differs in the passive and the active shift position of the shift component. During a displacement of the two parts in the event of a crash, a mutual energy-absorbing displacement takes place between the shift component being in the active shift position thereof and at least one section of the absorption element in an engagement region of the absorption element in which the shift element engages in the active shift position thereof, or between the shift component being in the active shift position thereof and one of the two parts that are mutually displaced in the event of a crash in an engagement region of said part in which the shift component engages in the active shift position thereof.

The invention proposes an adjustable steering column for a motor vehicle with a setting part displaceable in at least one setting direction for setting the position of the steering column, a holding part nondisplaceable in this setting direction and a securement device, in the opened state of which the setting part is displaceable with respect to the holding part for setting the position of the steering column, and in the closed state of which the setting part is secured in place by the securement device. A crash blocking device is provided, by which at least in the event of a crash, an additional holding force can be exerted against a dislocation of the setting part with respect to the holding part, which comprises a blocking element united with the setting part and a blocking element united with the holding part, wherein one of the blocking elements comprises scales acting resiliently out of the surface and the other of the two blocking elements has recesses, in such manner that at least some of the scales projecting resiliently from the surface of the one blocking element can be brought at least partially into engagement in corresponding recesses of the other blocking element in the closed state of the securement device.
