Augmented reality (AR) or virtual reality (VR) systems described herein can be configured to record images, video, and/or annotations for concurrent communication to a remote system for display or subsequent access. A communication between a user and an expert user using the system can include an audio communication (unidirectional or bidirectional), a video communication from the user to the expert user (allowing the expert user to see, in real time, the same environment as the user), and a data communication (via which content overlaid over the video communication, such as annotations, may be displayed for both the expert user and the user). The systems can be configured to communicate concurrently while also creating a recording for later review based on a 'live' or current issue being faced by a user assisted by an expert where the communication session is recorded for later playback by other users.

Shared augmented reality session recording and playback

A shared augmented reality system can support the sharing of video captured by a local user, using a head mounted display (HMD), with a remote user. The remote user may add augmented reality annotations (markings, notes, drawings) to certain objects within the environment captured within the video, where the annotations track the movement of those objects within the shared video. An HMD may not, however, provide a convenient interface for performing certain user-interface intensive tasks, which might be better performed on an additional device such as a mobile phone, tablet, or computer. During a shared augmented reality session, the additional device can be configured to communicate with a HMD such that certain tasks can be performed by the user through the additional device, and other tasks can be performed or experienced through the HMD. The additional device, the HMD and the remote user's device can communicatively coordinate during the session.

Methods and systems for determining a spin rate of a projectile are provided. A receiving module receives a video of a launch of a projectile in which the projectile having at least one marking disposed thereon. A segmenting module segments a plurality of shapes of the projectile from the video. The segmenting module includes a sensitivity module configured to increase a sensitivity of the video to find the projectile in the video. An extraction module extracts at least one column of pixels of the at least one marking from the shapes. A generating module generates a stripe pixel column history image from the at least one column of pixels. A calculating module calculates a spin rate of the projectile from the stripe pixel column history image.

Method and apparatus for computer vision analysis of spin rate of marked projectiles

Systems and methods are provided to quantify the pitching and yawing motion of a projectile during ballistic flight using two camera/tracker video systems. Image processing tools are used to segment the shape of the projectile in each frame of a launch video, which allows the location and observed pitch angle to be calculated with sub-pixel accuracy. Subsequent automated analysis uses the history of the projectile location and the pitching behavior to calculate estimates for the epicyclic motion, as well as other ballistic parameters such as aeroballistic coefficients. Using two cameras located at different orthographic views of the line-of-fire (LOF) allows the pitching and yawing motion history of the projectile to be calculated in three dimensions (3D). In addition, input of the camera locations, cannon trunnion location, and the cannon pointing direction allows for automatic correction for camera misalignment.

Embodiments in accordance with the invention provide a Landing Signal Officer (LSO) Information Management and Trend Analysis (IMTA) system for electronically capturing landing performance data related to aircraft approaches and landings in an IMTA application residing on a portable electronic device (PED) and for automatically generating performance data and trend analysis of the data. In one embodiment, data is input by user, such as an LSO, to one or more context sensitive graphical user interfaces displayed on a touch screen PED. Data entered to and generated by the IMTA application can be further communicated to and updated by external computer systems and appended with additional data and/or video available from external computer systems.
