In a mammography method and apparatus to generate a tomosynthetic x-ray image of a breast of a patient, two tomosynthesis scans are successively implemented with different x-ray energies. In one of the scans, a synthetic projection image is generated from at least two projection images acquired in this scan, this synthetic projection image corresponding to a projection at a projection angle at which a projection image has been acquired in the other scan. A difference image, used to reconstruct the tomosynthesis x-ray image, is generated from this synthetic projection image and the projection image acquired in the other scan. Alternatively, in each scan a synthetic projection image is generated from at least two projection images acquired in that scan. Each synthetic projection image represents a projection at the same projection angle. A difference image, used to reconstruct the tomosynthesis x-ray image, is generated from these two synthetic projection images.

For noise correction in connection with a flat-panel x-ray detector, noise signals of a dark reference area are checked for deviations exceeding a specified threshold which, if any are present, will be taken into consideration separately for calculating the correction factor derived from the noise signal. Image artifacts due, for example, to high-contrast objects such as, for instance, cardiac pacemakers or metallic implants, in the x-ray image will be avoided through this measure.

Method for noise correction for a flat-panel detector

A miniature X-ray tube for intravascular or intracorporeal radiation treatment in living beings is proposed. The X-ray tube comprises a cylindrical housing section with a longitudinal axis. The miniature X-ray tube also comprises a cylindrical or cylindrical-tube-shaped first field emission cathode arranged concentrically about the longitudinal axis in the housing with a plurality of carbon nanotubes which emit electrons radially outward. The miniature X-ray tube also comprises a second field emission cathode in the housing with a plurality of carbon nanotubes which emit electrons in the direction of longitudinal axis. The miniature X-ray tube only emits little heat and is robust against mechanical stresses.

A medical radiological system has a radiological device with at least one element that can be electrically adjusted in order to allow an adaptation of the radiological device to body dimensions of a patient to be examined. The radiological device has a controller with an interface that receives a patient parameter set from a computer, with which patient data are processed and stored. The controller calculates a desired position of the element from the received patient data set, and automatically controls positioning of the element by electrically adjusting the element to the desired position.

The inventive production method for this stent with the aid of a catheter embodied specially for the purpose enables the production of the stent from a malleable polymer mass in the relevant body conduit so that the stent is adapted especially precisely to the shape of the relevant body conduit.

In order to create a stent, which despite being simple to guide in the relevant body conduit allows flexible adaptability to the body conduit in a simple manner while avoiding undesirably high expansion forces on the wall of the body conduit, in accordance with the invention a catheter is provided, with an essentially tubular filling area surrounding the part of the catheter which can be introduced into the body conduit, which can be filled with a plastic mass which forms the stent by a process of hardening; there is provision for positioning the filling area at the position intended for the stent in the body conduit, for hardening the plastic mass in the filling area, for creating the stent and for removing the catheter from the body conduit with the stent remaining in the body conduit.

In a method and system for monitoring the power state of an x-ray emitter and/or an x-ray detector, the x-ray emitter is operated according to a set of test parameters, so as to emit x-rays that strike at least a portion of the detector region of the x-ray detector. At least one value characterizing the operation of the x-ray emitter and/or the x-ray detector is determined, and this detected parameter is compared with a comparable reference parameter value. The power state of the x-ray emitter and/or the x-ray detector is determined based on deviation of the detected parameter from the reference parameter.

In order to ensure the preparation of an undistorted X-ray image of an examination image by an X-ray detector including an active pixel matrix with at least two detector plates, a method is provided. In at least one embodiment, a method for correcting a raw X-ray image includes changing, as a function of a deviation between correction values from pixel readout elements of a first detector plate and correction values from pixel readout elements of at least one further detector plate, the correction values of pixel readout elements of at least one detector plate, or preparing new correction values for the pixel readout elements of at least one detector plate. Further, the method in at least one embodiment includes carrying out a correction of the raw X-ray image with the changed correction values, or a carrying out a correction with the original correction values and the new correction values.

To reduce quality losses in edge areas of an X-ray image, caused by temperature fluctuations, an X-ray detector () is arranged with a scintillator () for converting X radiation into light and with an active matrix () of pixel readout elements, arranged behind it in the direction of X radiation, in such a manner that the active matrix () is shielded in an optically opaque manner with respect to the scintillator () in at least one edge area () of the cross-over area of the scintillator () and the active matrix (); in particular, the optically opaque shielding is suitable for forming a dark reference zone () when the scintillator () is present.

X-ray detector

For a uniform image quality of digital X-ray records, a solid-state detector is provided. The detector includes light-sensitive pixel elements arranged in an active matrix, and a reset light source arranged behind them in the radiation direction of X-ray radiation, with the reset light source being in the form of an arrangement with light-emitting diodes and with the light-emitting diodes being designed such that can be driven individually and their intensity can be controlled individually. At least one of a failed and malfunctioning light-emitting diode is detectable. The intensities of the serviceable light-emitting diodes are driven and controlled in the event of a failure or a malfunction of at least one light-emitting diode in such a manner that the intensity and/or the homogeneity of the reset light source remains the same.

Solid-state detector and method for resetting residue charges by illumination in the case of a solid-state detector

In order to achieve a consistently good image quality, an X-ray device has an X-ray source in the form of an X-ray radiator () and an X-ray detector () with a precisely defined mutual arrangement, and a subsystem (--) for detecting any deviation between the actual mutual arrangement and the precise mutual arrangement of X-ray source and X-ray detector (). Optical detection of deviations is preferably provided.

X-ray device

A detector holder for a flat panel x-ray detector has a mechanical plug interface that allows flat panel x-ray detectors of respectively different types to be connected to and held by the detector holder. An x-ray system equipped with such a detector holder can be used flexibly for different applications respectively requiring different types of flat panel x-ray detectors. The type of the flat panel x-ray detector currently retained by the detector holder can be automatically detected and used by the data processor that processed output signals from the currently-employed flat panel x-ray detector.
