The invention relates to a module for operating at least one illuminant, preferably at least one LED, said module having at least one electrically insulating barrier, which separates a primary side that can be supplied, originating from a mains voltage, from a secondary side of the module, from which the at least one illuminant can preferably be supplied. A secondary-side passive circuit is provided, which is connected in a supply path to a primary-side control circuit across the barrier via a galvanically isolated converter. The primary-side control circuit is designed to apply a test signal with predetermined temporal development to the secondary-side passive circuit (via the converter) and simultaneously to monitor a measurement signal generated thereby on the secondary side and fed back into the supply path, more particularly to monitor an increase of current in the converter.

The invention proposes a driver circuit () for illuminants, particularly LEDs, having: &#x2014;a circuit (), such as an inverter in the form of a half-bridge circuit that has a resonant circuit (), that is clocked by means of at least one switch (FET, FET), &#x2014;a transformer (L) that follows the resonant circuit () and from whose secondary winding (L) the illuminants can be supplied with power, and &#x2014;a control circuit (ST) that clocks the switches (FET, FET) of the clocked circuit (), wherein an actual signal (ILED_PRIM) that indirectly reproduces the current through the illuminants and that is inductively output on the secondary side (L) of the transformer (L) is fed back to the control circuit (ST), wherein the control circuit (ST) is designed: &#x2014;to regulate the current through the illuminants by clocking at least one switch (FET, FET) of the clocked circuit () on the basis of the actual signal (ILED_PRIM), and/or &#x2014;to use the actual signal (ILED_PRIM) to record a fault state following the secondary winding (L) of the transformer (L) and/or the illuminants and to take this as a basis for outputting a fault signal and/or for altering the actuation of the clocked circuit ().

Driver circuit for illuminants, particularly LEDs

The invention relates to a device for operating LEDs, comprising a driver module and an LED module (), which is controlled by the driver module () and has at least one LED. The LED module () is fed a current by the driver module () via a first connection (), and a second connection () is present, preferably as a ground connection (GND). The device is characterized in that the LED module () is connected to the driver module () by means of a third connection (), which is designed as a data channel, a voltage fed by the driver module () being applied to the data channel.
