An actuator for presenting a handless door of a vehicle. The actuator including: an extendable extension bar supporting a pawl/catch system, the pawl/catch system having an actuator catch that cooperates with a dedicated striker; an actuator housing for housing a motor and a gear train operatively coupled to the motor, the gear train comprising a gear that has an integrated wormscrew; a nut located on the integrated wormscrew that translates linearly on the wormscrew as it is rotated by the motor, wherein movement of the nut causes the extendable extension bar to be moved outwardly and inwardly from the housing.

A vehicle door presenting system includes an actuator striker positioned at one of a vehicle body surface or a vehicle door, and an actuator positioned at the other of the vehicle body surface or the vehicle door and engagable with the actuator striker. The actuator is configured to move the vehicle door between a fully closed position and a partially open position via interaction between the actuator and the actuator striker. The actuator includes a retaining portion to maintain engagement with the actuator striker. The retaining portion retains the vehicle door in the partially open position to prevent the vehicle door from moving toward a fully open position.

A latch is provided. The latch having: a claw pivotally mounted to the latch for movement between an unlatched position and a latched position; a pawl pivotally mounted to the latch for movement between an engaged position and a disengaged position, wherein the pawl prevents movement of the claw into the unlatched position from the latched position when the pawl is in the engaged position and wherein the claw is able to move into the unlatched position from the latched position when the pawl is in the disengaged position; a release lever pivotally mounted to the latch for movement between a first position and a second position and operatively coupled to the pawl, wherein movement of the release lever from the first position to the second position moves the pawl from the engaged position to the disengaged position; and a housing having a back plate, each of the claw, the pawl, and the release lever being rotatably mounted to the back plate, the back plate including a back plate leg configured to transform from a un-deformed position to a deformed position in response to an impact applied to the latch, wherein the back plate leg interferes with movement of the release lever from the first position to the second position when it is in the deformed position.

Apparatus and method for preventing undesired latch release

A vehicle door opening mechanism includes a biasing structure operatively coupled to a vehicle door, the biasing structure movable between a first position and a second position, a portion of the biasing structure engageable with a vehicle body surface to bias the vehicle door from a closed position to a partially open position. Also included is a retaining structure disposed proximate the portion of the biasing structure that is engageable with the vehicle body surface, the retraining structure retaining the vehicle door in the partially open position to prevent the vehicle door from moving toward a fully open position.

A latch arrangement including a latch bolt having at least an open and closed position for releasably retaining a striker in use, the latch bolt being releasably held in at least a closed position by a pawl, the pawl being operably connected to an actuator by a transmission path, such that powered actuation of the actuator causes the pawl to release the latch bolt for opening, the latch arrangement further including means operable to return the actuator to a rest position, independent of movement of the pawl, wherein there is a lost motion connection in the transmission path to provide for the return of the actuator to the rest position independent of movement of the pawl, the lost motion connection being in the form of an abutment on a nut in lost motion connection with a further abutment of the transmission path.
