A method of producing enrichedSc comprises irradiating a V structure comprisingV with at least one incident photon beam having an endpoint energy within a range of from about 14 MeV to about 44 MeV to convert at least some of theV toSc and form aSc-containing structure. TheSc of theSc-containing structure is separated from additional components of theSc-containing structure using a chromatography process. Systems and apparatuses for producing enrichedSc are also described.

Surrogate materials are in the form of solid particles that include surrogate isotopes, namely, short-lived isotopes selected and formed to serve as surrogates for the radioactive materials of a nuclear fallout without including isotopes that are, or that decay to, biologically or environmentally deleterious and persistent isotopes.
