A device (e.g., an IoT device) includes a first radio, and a memory device accessible to the first radio. The memory device is configured to store a fingerprinting feature for a specific transmitter device. A second radio and a processor are also included. The process is coupled to the first and second radios. The first radio is configured to extract a fingerprinting feature of a first received wireless signal, determine that the extracted feature matches the fingerprinting feature stored in the storage device, and responsive to the determination that the extracted feature matches the feature stored in the storage device, cause the second radio to transition from a lower power state to a higher power state of operation and continue to receive the incoming signal.

Open loop wake-up radio based on transmitter fingerprinting

A wireless station (STA) in a wireless local area network (WLAN) performs a method to avoid media access control (MAC) padding of a physical layer convergence protocol data unit (PPDU) (e.g., a trigger-based (TB) PPDU, etc.). The method can reduce current or power consumption by the STA, which can in turn optimize the STA and, in certain instances, the WLAN as whole. In one example, the method includes the STA receiving a trigger frame from an access point (AP). The trigger frame specifies a length of a PPDU. The method further includes the STA generating a TB PPDU based on the specifications in the trigger frame. In particular, the STA generates a PPDU that has a length that is less than the length specified by the trigger frame. The method also includes the STA transmitting the generated PPDU to the AP.

Avoiding media access control padding of trigger-based physical layer convergence protocol data unit

Techniques for determining an angle-of-arrival of a wireless transmission are provided, including receiving, with a first antenna, at least a first portion of a wireless transmission, determining when a second portion of the wireless transmission will be received, switching to the second antenna to receive the second portion of the wireless transmission, determining an angle of arrival of the wireless transmission based on the first portion and the second portion of the wireless transmission, and outputting the angle of arrival of the wireless transmission.

Angle of arrival estimation using a single receive chain

A network device serving two or more networks using periodic times slots for transmission events is configured to determine that one of the periodic time slots on one of the networks has or soon will collide with one of the periodic time slots on the other network by processing time stamps for events on each network. Either of the periodic time slots may be occasionally shifted by a time shift amount to avoid a collision between the periodic time slots on each network. Shifting the periodic time slots may be performed by transmitting a Bluetooth connection parameter update packet.

Avoidance of collisions and connection loss in network device serving multiple networks

One example includes a passive radar receiver system including an RF receiver front-end to receive a wireless source signal and a reflected signal. An antenna switch of the front-end switches a first antenna to a receiver chain during a first time to generate first radar signal data based on a combined wireless signal comprising wireless source signal and the reflected signal, and switches a second antenna to the receiver chain during a second time to generate second radar signal data based on the combined wireless signal. A signal processor generates source signal data associated with the wireless source signal based on the first and second radar signal data and generates reflected signal data associated with the reflected signal based on the first and second radar signal data, and generates target radar data associated with a target based on the source and reflected radar signal data.

Passive radar receiver system

A user client device with a single receive (RX) chain, a first antenna and a second antenna, and a processor that causes the user client device to couple the single RX chain to the first antenna to receive a first data packet on a first channel and determine a first channel state information (CSI) tile of the first channel based on one or more fields in the first data packet, decouple the first antenna from the single RX chain and couple the second antenna to the single RX chain to continue receiving the first data packet on a second channel, determine a second CSI tile of the second channel based on one or more of a portion of the first plurality of fields, aggregate the first CSI tile with the second CSI tile, and generate a CSI matrix based on aggregating the first CSI tile with the second CSI tile.

Several circuits and methods for field-based communication are provided. In an embodiment, a field-based communication circuit includes a receiver circuit, a detection circuit and a control circuit. The receiver circuit is configured to receive a field input signal from a field source. The detection circuit includes a voltage detection circuit and a current detection circuit configured to detect a voltage signal and a current signal, respectively associated with the field input signal. The control circuit is configured to trigger a selection of one of the voltage detection circuit and the current detection circuit based on a detection of a signal magnitude of one of the voltage signal and the current signal relative to at least a first predetermined threshold level, wherein the selection of one of the voltage detection circuit and the current detection circuit facilitates a demodulation of one of the voltage signal and the current signal.

Circuits and methods for field-based communication

A system for terminating a receive correlation window of a receiving wireless device includes a radio frequency receiver configured to open a receive correlation window having a predetermined duration and an energy measurement circuit configured to measure a radio frequency energy level ambient to the wireless receiver. A comparator is included that is configured to determine, based on the measured radio frequency energy level, whether or not a signal is being transmitted from a nearby wireless device. The receiver is further configured to close the receive correlation window before the predetermined duration is reached in response to a determination by the comparator that no signal is being transmitted by a nearby device. If a signal is being transmitted, then the receive correlation window is allowed to proceed uninterrupted.
