The projection image display apparatus includes a display element that emits image light generated by modulating light from a light source based, a pixel-shifter that shifts a pixel of a projected image by changing an optical path of the image light, a resampling circuit, a motion-interpolation image processing circuit, and a pixel-shift controller. The resampling circuit generates a plurality of sub-frame image signals having a resolution of the display element, by resampling an image signal having a resolution of the projected image. The motion-interpolation image processing circuit provides a motion-interpolation image process to the sub-frame image signals. The pixel-shift controller receives the sub-frame image signals having undergone the motion-interpolation image process. The pixel-shift controller drives the display element and the pixel shifter at a given timing based on the sub-frame image having undergone the motion-interpolation image process, and then displays the projected image, which involves pixel-shift, on a screen.

Projection image display apparatus

The optical path changing device of the present disclosure includes an optical member having a parallel plate face for changing an optical path, and first, second, and third actuators. The first, the second, and the third actuators are connected with the optical member at first, second, and third vertices of a triangle imaginarily drawn on a plane parallel to the parallel plate face of the optical member. The first, the second, and the third actuators drive the optical member forward and backward in a normal direction of the parallel plate face at the first, the second, and the third vertices serving as points of load. The optical member has a center of gravity within the triangle when seen from the normal direction.

Optical path changing device and projection image display apparatus

An optical modulator element modulates incident light from a light source with an input signal. A projection lens magnifies and projects the outgoing light from the optical modulator element. A pixel shift element is disposed between the optical modulator element and the projection lens, and displaces an optical path of the outgoing light from the optical modulator element for shifting a display position of a pixel to be displayed on a screen in a given cycle between a first position and a second position away from the first position by a predetermined distance. A controller controls the pixel shift element such that the pixel shifts between the first position and the second position in either one of a first mode at a shift speed or a second mode at another second shift speed.

Projection display apparatus

A projection-type image display apparatus includes a light source unit, an image generating unit that generates image light according to an input video signal, a light-guide optical system that guides the light from the light source unit to the image generating unit, a projection optical system that projects the image light generated by the image generating unit, and a controller. The controller has a display mode in which the image light is projected and an illumination mode in which the light from the light source unit is emitted as illumination light. The controller controls the optical system to focus illumination light from the projection optical system on a projection surface, in the display mode, and to focus illumination light from the projection optical system at a position different from the projection screen, in the illumination mode.

A projection-type image display device includes a first housing and a second housing. Projection-type image display device

A projection display apparatus includes an image generation unit that generates an image light, an optical system that projects the image light onto a projection plane, an optical path changing unit that changes a display position of the image light on the projection plane, and a controller. The controller generates signals for plural types of sub-frames by dividing spatially a signal for each frame of the video input signal. The controller controls the optical path changing unit to keep the display position of the image light on the projection plane before and after transition of the frame of the video signal, and controls the image generation unit to make a type of a beginning sub-frame in a frame output just after the transition equal to a type of a last sub-frame in a frame output just before the transition.

A video projection device according to this disclosure is provided with a splitter having a first region including a plurality of segments and a second region including at least one segment and configured to split a light flux emitted from a light source into a plurality of light of colors in a time-divisional manner by having the light flux enter into each one of the segments, and a video display element configured to modulate the light of the colors based on a image signal to be input and to form a image, and a controller configured to calculate a light intensity and to control the light source based on a result of the calculation.

Video projection device and method with control of light source based on image signal

The projection-type image display device includes a light source unit, a color generation unit provided on the optical path of emitted light from the light source unit and configured to generate multiple colors of light from emitted light from the light source in a time-division manner by rotating at a predetermined rotation cycle, a light modulation unit, and a control unit. In accordance with a color component of the input image signal, the control unit sets current values for current to be applied to the light source unit and a polarity inversion timing for inverting the polarity of the light source unit. The control unit applies current having the current values to the light source unit while inverting the polarity according to the polarity inversion timing. The control unit shifts the polarity inversion timing according to change in the current values for current to be applied to the light source unit.

A projection display apparatus includes an imager that modulates light emitted from a light source and a projection unit that projects light emitted from the imager on a projection surface. The projection display apparatus includes: an imager controller that controls the imager to display a test pattern image in which a characteristic point is defined by at least three adjacent regions; an acquisition unit that acquires a captured image of the test pattern image from an imaging element configured to capture the test pattern image projected on the projection surface; and an adjustment unit that identifies the characteristic point included in the captured image on the basis of the captured image acquired by the acquisition unit and adjusts an image to be projected on the projection surface on the basis of the identified characteristic point. The at least three adjacent regions surround the characteristic point and are adjacent to the characteristic point.

A projector includes an excitation light source and a color wheel which is rotatable, with an axis in parallel to an optical axis of the excitation light source serving as a rotation axis. The color wheel includes two phosphors arranged adjacent to each other in a direction of rotation and emitting G light and Ye light respectively as they are excited by excitation light from the excitation light source. The projector further includes a phosphor drive portion which drives the color wheel to rotate such that the two phosphors emit light in a time-division manner within 1 frame period, a video signal analysis portion which analyzes a video signal for each piece of image data in each frame, and an excitation light source drive portion which sets an intensity of excitation light emitted to each phosphor in accordance with a result of analysis by the video signal analysis portion.

An image signal storing unit stores an image signal provided from the outside. An image processing unit appropriately processes the image signal stored in the image signal storing unit in accordance with the instruction from an adjusting unit. A projecting unit projects, onto a display area, light corresponding to an image created by the image processing unit. The image signal converting apparatus is used in a lighting unit. The lighting unit includes a liquid crystal panel modulating a red component light according to a red image signal, a liquid crystal panel modulating a green component light according to a green image signal, and a liquid crystal panel modulating a blue component light according to a blue image signal. Yellow component light is superimposed on any of the red component light, the green component light and the blue component light. The image signal converting apparatus includes a controlling unit which controls a superimposition amount of yellow component light based on a specific image signal among a red image signal, a green image signal, and a blue image signal. A color corresponding to the specific image signal has a hue adjacent to a hue corresponding to the yellow component light. The controlling unit controls a reduction amount of the specific image signal based on the superimposition amount.
