A treating agent whose effective ingredient is an anthranyl derivative of the formula: ##STR1## (wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 may be the same or different and represent a hydrogen atom, a hydroxyl group, a lower alkoxy group, preferably C.sub.1 -C.sub.3 alkoxy group, a lower alkyl group, preferably C.sub.1 -C.sub.3 alkyl group, a nitro group or a halogen atom) is disclosed.

Dibenzoxazepine derivatives of the formula: ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1, n, R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 are as defined in the description, process for preparing the same, pharmaceutical composition containing the same and method of treating diseases in circulatory organs administering the composition to a patient are disclosed. The compounds of the formula have lipid lowering activity, lipid peroxide lowering activity, blood sugar lowering activity and activity to inhibit the aggregation of platelets, and hence are useful as a medicine.

A plant growth regulator containing as an active ingredient one or more compounds represented by the formula ##STR1## wherein R, X, Y and Z are defined in the specification is disclosed. The plant growth regulator is effective for a wide variety of plants, particularly for grassy plants. In addition to such activity, the regulator of this invention acts on plants to thicken the foliage and to aid health growth without causing substantial phytotoxicity.

The object compounds have excellent serum cholesterol lowering activity, serum lipid lowering activity, blood lipid peroxide lowering activity and anti-aggregation of platelet activity, and therefore are useful as a drug.
